This position reports to
Operations Manager
Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to improving Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) performance within your area of responsibility, embedding an exemplary safety culture and fostering a strong environmental focus. You will play a key role in cultivating a high-performance culture with a strong commitment to HSE. Each day, you will support the business by applying in-depth HSE knowledge, offering expert solutions and advice tailored to the needs of the organization. You will also demonstrate your expertise by ensuring effective risk management and driving HSE excellence across the ABB value chain. The work model for the role is: #hybrid #hybrid-Li This role is contributing to the Country HSE Manager in Hydra, Algeria. Main stakeholders are line managers, supervisors, shop floor employees, internal HSE teams, external stakeholders such as customers, suppliers, and relevant authorities, as well as ABB Group and business unit leadership. You will be mainly accountable for: • Reports HSE incidents to management and relevant stakeholders and ensures appropriate actions are taken • Facilitates and supports risk assessments for shop floor employees, ensuring all necessary HSE processes are implemented • Guides and assists in incident investigations to help identify risk mitigation strategies and improve future performance • Provides feedback on lessons learned and best practices from within the unit and across ABB to management and employees • Supports and drives behavioral change by locally implementing group-wide and business-specific HSE improvement programs • Ensures compliance with ABB policies, standards, and local HSE regulations, and supports audits within the area of responsibility • Assists line managers and supervisors in understanding HSE obligations and fulfilling their roles • Engages with internal and external stakeholders to raise awareness, gain commitment, and report on HSE performance • Identifies training needs and ensures the availability and proper use of safety equipment and tools • Contributes to HSE-related projects, including planning, execution, and reporting on objectives, resources, and outcomes You will join a dynamic, talented, high performing team, where you will be able to thrive.

Qualifications for the role
- You are highly skilled in HSE risk assessment methodologies, incident investigation processes, and regulatory compliance within the Energy and Oil & Gas sector
- You have 5 years of experience in HSE management, demonstrating a strong track record in improving HSE behavior and driving performance improvement initiatives (OPTIONAL: Working as an HSE Specialist on ABB projects, particularly within high-risk industries such as Energy and Oil & Gas)
- Highly adept in using HSE management systems, risk analysis tools, and reporting platforms aligned with ABB standards and international regulations
- You are passionate about continuous improvement and stakeholder engagement, and you are innovative around safety culture development and team collaboration
- Degree in Science with a focus on Health, Safety, and Environment (preferred), supporting a deep understanding of industrial HSE practices
- You are at ease communicating in both French and English, effectively engaging with teams and stakeholders across multicultural environments
- You hold current HSE certifications valid in your operating location, with full compliance to local legal requirements and ABB's internal standards
- You have a demonstrated track record in supporting line management and employees in fulfilling HSE obligations, ensuring alignment with ABB Group objectives
