Principal Offshore Structures Engineer

Location: Basingstoke, Hampshire, United Kingdom

About the Role:

Our client, a leading international engineering company seeking a talented Principal Engineer to lead our offshore design team in Basingstoke, UK. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for overseeing structural analysis, providing technical guidance, and driving innovative solutions for offshore projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the offshore structural design team and plan their activities accordingly.
  • Execute structural analysis for offshore substructures and topsides.
  • Develop and evaluate technical solutions for offshore structures throughout the design process.
  • Review technical documentation and analyses produced by the team.
  • Prepare sketch drawings, concept studies, and feasibility studies.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines and teams.
  • Liaise with other departments on project execution.
  • Work with planners and project management to ensure project delivery within schedule.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Strong experience in offshore structures analysis and design, adhering to industry standards.
  • Proficiency in creating and verifying FEM models for offshore structures.
  • Expertise in foundation system design, including piles and mud mats.
  • Experience in brownfield structure re-design, life extension, and reliability analysis.
  • Familiarity with non-linear analysis, blast, dropped objects, impact, redundancy, and pushover analysis.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and provide independent recommendations.
  • Knowledge of offshore structural materials, fabrication, and installation aspects.
  • Experience with floaters design.
  • Experience in tender documentation for offshore structures design.
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to guide a team of structural engineers.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel abroad.
  • Proficiency in relevant computer tools (e.g., DNVGL SESAM Suite, USFOS, ANSYS, SACS).
