Job Description
Job Summary:
The Generator Technician will be responsible for performing for installing, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing backup power generators to ensure they function efficiently and reliably.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintains accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, including inventory management and reporting.
- Performs daily tasks including troubleshooting, testing, and performing routine maintenance on generators to meet operational requirements.
- Conducts equipment inspections to identify potential problems and prevent downtime.
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose generator system electrical and mechanical issues.
- Operates hand tools and other specialized equipment to complete tasks efficiently.
- Recommends measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.
- Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
- Maintains tools and equipment in good condition; plans and organizes assignments effectively.
- Presents a professional, positive, and helpful attitude when interacting with customers, co-workers, and supervision.
- Organizes all work assigned and completes accurately and on-time all work tickets and required paperwork.
- Maintains effective communication with management, employees, and customers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Ability to obtain and maintain base access.
- Submit to and successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
- Valid state driver's license.
- Certification in generator maintenance or related field.
- Proficient with generator and transfer switch controls.
- Proficient with all electrical, mechanical and control systems.
- Proficient with operation and testing of generator systems.
- Possesses knowledge of operation and maintenance logs for generator systems.
- Able to read and follow operations and maintenance manuals, including electrical diagrams and schematics.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Not be color-blind.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Three years of recent experience within the past five years.
Preferred:
- Prior experience working on government contracts.
- OSHA 10.
