Wood is recruiting for a Lead Process Engineer - Water Treatment to join its Downstream Oil & Gas and Chemical business unit focusing on wastewater and raw water treatment processes. This opportunity is Hybrid in Houston, TX.

The Role

The Lead Process Engineer will manage complex water treatment projects, perform feasibility studies, process simulations, and equipment sizing. This role includes collaborating with project management, overseeing engineering calculations, mentoring junior engineers, and engaging in green energy projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and manage complex water treatment projects with minimal guidance
  • Perform process engineering tasks, including:
    • Feasibility and optimization studies
    • Process simulations and development of heat and material balances
    • Sizing of process equipment and generation of process data for instrument and mechanical data sheets
    • Hydraulic piping line sizing and preparation of associated philosophies and reports
    • Relief calculations and familiarity with flare network modeling
  • Collaborate with project management for reporting, scheduling, and resource planning
  • Oversee and check engineering calculations and designs to ensure compliance with industry codes and standards
  • Mentor and supervise junior engineers, assigning tasks and reviewing work quality
  • Ensure technical consistency and high-quality design deliverables across engineering disciplines
  • Engage in green energy projects

Expected:
  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 15 years of process engineering experience in the downstream oil & gas and chemical sectors
  • Expertise in raw and wastewater treatment processes
  • Experience in hydrogen production or water treatment for hydrogen electrolysers is highly desirable
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to perform occasional field visits, including climbing stairs/ladders and lifting up to 25 lbs

Desirable:
  • NCEES Professional Engineering License preferred
