Job Summary

Dominion Energy at the Innsbrook Technical Center in Glen Allen, VA is currently seeking Engineers at the entry, mid, and senior levels. The position will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) is part of the Nuclear Safety Engineering (NSE) organization in the Nuclear Engineering and Fuel (NEF) department. PRA has responsibility for developing, maintaining, and applying probabilistic risk models to support Dominion Energy's nuclear plants in Virginia, Connecticut, and South Carolina. The PRA models are designed to evaluate plant response in the event of an accident at a nuclear power station. They account for the design of plant systems and the responses of plant operators to potential accidents to evaluate the importance of systems and components to plant risk. Risk insights are used to improve safety and efficiency of plant operations and maintenance. Job Responsibilities include PRA Modeling - Use industry software to maintain PRA model files in accordance with the ASME/ANS PRA Standard; PRA Electrical Analysis - Circuit analysis, cable routing, failure mode analysis; Fire PRA Development - Development and refinement of Fire PRA models; PRA Applications - Perform analysis using the PRA models to support regulatory and elective risk-informed programs and applications (Maintenance Rule, NFPA 805, Significance Determination Process, Mitigating Systems Performance Index, etc.); PRA Documentation - Document model changes, supporting analyses, and PRA applications to efficiently and effectively establish model bases; PRA Project Management - Lead and manage PRA projects that involve multiple engineers and interface with multiple departments; PRA Software Testing - Perform testing and validation of new code versions and new software packages; Organizational Interface - Interface with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, IT, and other departments

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Engineer I: 0-2 years of experience in nuclear engineering, station engineering, or nuclear plant operations. Students who will receive their degree by December 2024 are eligible for consideration.
Engineer II: Minimum 3 years of relevant engineering experience
Engineer III: Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience
Electrical Engineering experience or Probabilistic Risk Assessment experience are preferred
Prior experience in Fire PRA, NFPA 805, Seismic PRA, 10 CFR 50.69, and/or Risk-Informed Technical Specifications are a plus
Knowledge of fundamental nuclear, mechanical, and electrical theory and engineering principles
Knowledge of fundamental theory, design, systems, structures, components, and operation of pressurized water reactors
Professional orientation and effective interpersonal skills; effective communication skills in both written and verbal forms; collaboration and knowledge sharing; initiative

REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA:

For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met:

Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or

Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or

Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or

Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.

Required degree (equivalency not accepted in lieu of required degree):

Bachelor

Required discipline(s): Engineering, in nuclear engineering, or other four-year accredited engineering degree with emphasis in nuclear engineering or engineering physics.

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

For Nuclear purposes only ANSI 3.1-2014, Section 4.6.1 (must be documented on form HR-AA-101)

Education: Baccalaureate degree in Engineering or related science (Physics, Chemistry, Math, Engineering Technology acceptable if all other pieces of the third prong of the Required Engineering Criteria listed in KSA section are met).

Minimum Experience for the position:

Related experience which shall include 2 yrs; Nuclear power plant experience to include 1 yr.

Note: Years of experience in job summary exceed the ANSI requirement for related experience (5+ years required for Engineer III).
