JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is currently recruiting for a Lead Piping Engineer to strengthen our team in Basra, Iraq on a 6 weeks on /2 weeks off rotation cycle.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Job Summary:

This is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing piping engineering deliverables, ensuring compliance with industry codes and standards, and promoting safe behavior.

Key Responsibilities:

Piping Engineering Leadership

1. Plan, budget, organize, and control piping engineering deliverables.

2. Provide direction and guidance on piping engineering technical queries.

3. Ensure conformity to applicable engineering codes, standards, and client policies.

Project Coordination

1. Liaise with client's engineering, operations, and maintenance staff.

2. Coordinate with other disciplines during design development, construction, pre-commissioning, and start-up.

Quality and Progress Management

1. Ensure timely delivery of high-quality piping engineering work.

2. Identify areas of concern and recommend corrective actions.

Technical Expertise

1. Provide sound technical advice and solutions to diverse technical problems.

2. Promote safe behavior at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements:

1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

2. Minimum 15+ years of experience in oil and gas piping engineering.

3. Brownfield experience is mandatory.

4. Proficient in international piping codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API).

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Master's degree in mechanical engineering.

2. Professional certifications (e.g., PE, Chartered Engineer).

3. Previous experience working in the Middle East.

Skills:

1. Strong technical leadership and management skills.

2. Excellent communication and coordination skills.

3. Ability to work effectively with multi-national and multi-cultural project teams.
