Nacelles R&D > Control Hardware Module > Hub & Tower Power Distribution

Vestas Power Solutions is the R&D function of Vestas. Through innovation, development, and continuous improvement we develop the products and technologies that reduce the cost of energy and bring the highest possible value to our customers and Vestas. Within Vestas Power Solution business unit, the department Control Hardware Module is responsible for the design and development of Low Voltage control panels and the control system across various sections of the Wind Turbine. The Control Hardware module is inclusive of several submodules explicit to each section of the Wind Turbine.
You will be part of the Hub and Tower Power Distribution submodule, this submodule is responsible for the design, development, and Integration of LV control panels to facilitate the auxiliary power distribution to the specific sections. You will create the design solutions that are modular by utilizing the techniques of system engineering and simulations to build the new wind turbines smarter, more efficient, and more robust, thereby shaping the future of renewable energy.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for developing solutions on Control panels/Mechatronic components development collaboration with other WTG designers and value chain stakeholders
  • Implement and supervise the ECM process (Engineering change management)
  • Design validation plan and execution
  • Responsible for providing robust, reliable, efficient design solution with highest performance (i.e Quality and lowest cost across the value chain)
  • Develop 3D-CAD design/models, 2D drawings and bill of materials based on design specifications
  • Define GPS/GD&T on drawings reflecting manufacturing standards
  • Fast and accurate answers to question / requests from different stakeholders
  • Ensure that market requirements and best practices are included in the WTG design
  • Collection of improvement suggestions and best practices from a broad range of global stakeholders
  • Embed relevant design and production knowledge into CAD by defining master models (parametrical models) and design guidelines/ checklists
  • Conduct design reviews and get approval on design from different value chain stakeholders
  • Ensure designs meet safety and quality standard


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's / Master's in Mechanical / Mechatronics /Electrical Similar specialization
  • 6+ years of total experience in mechanical design & 3+ years of experience in CAD development for production, supply chain, transport tools, and handling of wind turbines or other large components in other industries
  • Experience in 3D modelling and 2D drawings, PTC Creo Parametric preferred
  • Experience with PLM software, PTC Windchill PDMLink preferred
  • Experience with Jira or other Planning tool
  • Focus on the project scope and able to understand the impact a scope change will have on the project

  • Good skills in English, both written and verbal
  • Capture engineering requirements, define and control project scope with deliveries on time and with Quality
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Good understanding about ECM (Engineering Change Management) and it's impacts across the value chain
  • Creative approach to new opportunities, a natural ability for innovation and thrive with varied tasks and constant changes from day to day
  • Result oriented with a solid focus on the task and to be able to meet the deadlines with the right quality
  • Team spirit
  • Good understanding of Design for Manufacturing/Assembly/Service concepts
  • Engineering drawing: knowledge of international engineering design and drawing standards in EN and ISO standards related to Mechanical component design
  • Feasibility studies: knowledge of the execution of feasibility studies
  • Knowledge of Steel/aluminum materials properties and their specifications
  • Knowledge in creating purchase specifications like TPS, TSS documents, etc
  • System interface design & stakeholder management
  • Experience in 3D modelling ,2D drawings, using Creo Parametric
  • Ensure 3D/2D CAD quality by using a standard checklist. (GPS, NDT, CTQ)
  • Accountable and focused on delivering on time and with the right quality
  • Good understanding of ECM (Engineering Change Management) and its impacts across the value chain
