The Role
We have had great success across our engineering offering within our Digital Consulting business. As a result we are now looking for expressions of interest so we can plan for the future growth of our team.
The Senior Mechanical engineer will assist Wood with a wide variety of engineering scopes including assessing and reviewing the requirements on site for our clients. You will have the chance to conduct site surveys as well as doing desk engineering.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mechanical engineer who enjoys variety including working with the clients to provide mechanical solutions and assessing engineering scopes to ensure they are fit for the intended purpose.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to develop your engineering career further gaining exposure to multiple types of engineering challenges whilst also having the opportunity to support with the development of the next generation of mechanical engineers.

Within our Digital Operations team, our clients are operators of critical energy infrastructure as well as specialist manufacturing and pharmaceuticals, who are committed to maintaining safe and effective operational assets worldwide. Our work supports every stage in the asset lifecycle, but particularly focussing on the integrity of engineering data in digital solutions as well as optimising existing assets through our engineering expertise. We advise clients as they navigate through the digital and energy transition.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The key responsibilities for this role are:
- Provides engineering support and review across the following areas;
- Upgrades of equipment
- Gap analysis of pressure systems
- Obselecence review onsite
- Static and rotary equipment choices
- Appraisals of equipment
- Review of safety standards and site procedures
- Support the development and delivery of the technical safety standard expectations and technical assurance
- Participate in audits & incident investigations as required
- Prepare data sheets, calculations, work scopes, reports
- Ensure self-awareness of relevant regulatory framework, legislation changes, initiatives and industry technology developments and promote to direct reports
- Provide discipline input to scope definition and execution
- Deputising for Principal as required
- Interact with Multi-Discipline Engineering Teams
- Supporting and supervising tasks delegated to junior members of the team
- Provides coaching and mentoring to other engineers as required
- Management of third-party suppliers in the execution of Engineering delivery
- Competent in knowledge of regulatory framework and associated legislation
- Demonstrate current knowledge with industry and technology development within Mechanical discipline
QUALIFICATIONS

Expected:
- MSc, MEng or equivalent professional qualification or BSc, BEng or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering with extensive relevant experience
- Chartered Engineer or recognised equivalent experience
- Previous experience assessing and reviewing mechanical scopes of work
- Previous experience in an operational site based role
- Previous experience supporting with audits
- Demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy in all work undertaken
- Self-motivated with excellent self-time management skills, able to work with minimum supervision
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across all levels of the business both written and verbal
- Experience and a drive for continual learning / understanding of the latest digital tools, technologies and processes
- A good level of general computer skills (good electronic housekeeping)
Desirable
- Previous experience working in a client facing role
- Previous experience working in a project engineering role
