EngineeringDiscover a project that really suits you!
For nearly 200 years, Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore has been recognized for its technical expertise and reliability worldwide.
We specialize in the classification and certification of ships, offshore structures, as well as renewable marine energy technologies. We also guarantee the safety and security of maritime facilities and equipment for international clients.
Our 2,900 employees spread across more than 140 countries around the world share a mission: to act for a better maritime environment.
Our culture? Trust!
Join our teams! We are looking for an intern to join the Renewable & Power team of our design review department in Nantes (Saint Herblain).
Express your talents!
As part of a team specialized in the offshore energy field, you will conduct a study on the numerical modeling of flexible pipes used for offshore energy transfer.
These lines can transport oil fluids and gases (methane, etc.) as well as new fluids (carbon dioxide, ammonia, hydrogen, etc.), in connection with CO2 capture projects or new less carbon-intensive energies.
The objective of this internship is to conduct a comparative study between two finite element numerical modeling software: Flexcom, developed externally and currently used by the team, and Opera, developed by our internal teams.
The main missions are to:
- Validate Opera's results compared to those of Flexcom
- Identify the necessary developments on the Opera software to model complex systems
- Propose areas for improvement to facilitate the handling and use of the Opera software.
After an initiation phase on offshore topics, the intern will become familiar with the Flexcom software and a practical modeling case (a typical riser flexible line, in catenary configuration between a floater and the seabed, for example).
Then, the intern will be expected to model the same practical case with Opera, and to process the results, to highlight any discrepancies that may exist between the two software.
Shall we continue?
Let's build a world of trust together!
In your final year of engineering training or equivalent, you have solid knowledge in mechanics and structural analysis (numerical analysis, finite element modeling, etc.).
Given the international context, a good command of English is required.
Knowledge of Flexcom, Orcaflex, Deeplines software, as well as proficiency in Python, is a plus.
Why join us?
Join us to share our passion and commitment to the Maritime World!
You will have the opportunity to be at the heart of technical and technological innovations, directly participating in the evolution of the sector, particularly in terms of energy transition. You will be part of an international, innovative, open and ambitious team.
Working at Bureau Veritas means daring to think big and having the means to achieve your ambitions. It is about combining meaning and performance, for our clients and for society as a whole.
Bureau Veritas is also committed to equal opportunities, which is why we support gender equality and promote professional integration, access and retention in employment for people with disabilities.
