The Well Engineer III is also accountable for providing recommendations and evaluations of existing data, as well as end-of-well data. They are the primary responsible person for the design and oversight of the operational development of their designs and proposals.

The Well Engineer III is responsible for planning, modeling, and recommending refined drilling and completion programs for projects. This role involves interfacing with clients, sales, and operations personnel, covering all aspects of well engineering related to drilling and completion of wells. The Well Engineer III is also accountable for providing recommendations and evaluations of existing data, as well as end-of-well data. They are the primary responsible person for the design and oversight of the operational development of their designs and proposals.
Requirements
- Plan and coordinate well programs (drilling, completions, well intervention) across a multi-functional team, ensuring focus on Safety, Security, Health and Environment (SSH&E), operations integrity, and regulatory compliance
- Lead day-to-day planning and operations in coordination with Well Site Supervisors and contractors for assigned projects
- Conduct surveillance and monitoring of daily drilling progress to ensure operations apply optimum technologies and operational practices
- Utilize engineering tools and software to validate well engineering calculations and well design integrity
- Perform risk assessments to qualify and quantify risks in the well design using a deterministic approach
- Analyze operational performance and coordinate with operations personnel to implement changes in procedures and equipment
- Capture lessons learned and effectively apply them in project execution
- Identify inefficiencies and provide recommendations to management on improving well times and project costs
- Stay updated on the latest available drilling technology
- Provide surveillance of well costs and conduct stewardship reconciliation exercises
- Responsible for proposals and investigation of unscheduled events and non-conformance incidents
- Assist Well Site Supervisors in managing unscheduled events through technical review and guidance
Required: MSc/B.Sc. in engineering or a scientific discipline.
Experience
- 6+ years of relevant industry experience in a well engineering role (drilling/completions)
- Demonstrated knowledge of well design and planning, drilling safety and well control principles, environmental regulations, and field operations
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and industry-recognized well engineering software
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Relevant experience both in the field and office with an Integrated Services OFS company
- Fluency in a second language
- Strong communication, organizing, troubleshooting, and multi-tasking skills, especially when under pressure and in demanding conditions
- Ability to lead meetings with vendors, contractors, and clients as required
- Positive attitude, with a high degree of self-discipline and self-motivation
- Detailed knowledge and compliance with Weatherford work processes, policies, and procedures
- Ability to work in a team environment, take direction from supervisors, lead personnel, and prioritize work schedule
- Adaptability and flexibility
- Enhance technical competencies by keeping abreast of new trends, techniques, and technologies
