JOB DESCRIPTION

Primary responsibilities

• Identify and select primary and secondary suppliers in the region
• Qualifying suppliers and first article samples. Monitoring local supply chain base.
• Assess supplier capabilities, manage supplier quality, manage supplier performance, and lead key quality initiatives with suppliers.
• Establish, document, and implement supplier development initiatives to improve supplier performance, throughput, quality, and cost
• Audit, survey, and score supplier facilities and prepare justification for issuance of business to the same.
• Lead root cause analysis teams to obtain permanent closed loop product issue resolution
• Maintain effective and proper relations with suppliers or their representatives.
• Inspect product for workmanship flaws, unforeseen production difficulties, obsolescence, and other cost/quality related issues
• Release new requisitions as necessary for quotations and procurement to support required delivery of component parts or services.
• Participate in initiatives that will reduce the length of the supply chain, improve fill rates, and optimize inventory.
• Perform other work-related tasks as required as assigned.
• Implement working capital reduction initiatives by executing VMI strategies.
• Comply with all NOV Company, departmental and HSE procedures and policies.

Education and Experience

• Minimum bachelor's degree in an engineering, technology, manufacturing, or related field
• Experience with EBS, JDE and/or SCM Cloud Planning is desired.
• Knowledge of ISO, API, ASTM Material Standards required.
• Knowledge of machining, Special coating & other manufacturing processes
• Proficient in use of Microsoft Office suite of products.
• Significant manufacturing and procurement engineering related experience
• Experience with planning and managing projects
• Supplier/Vendor management
• Strong communication in English (Both Verbal and Written)

• Logical/analytical problem-solving skills
• Ability to develop and maintain relationships with those outside own work group
• Ability to collect, prepare, and present supplier product/production-related data to management
• Have an in depth understanding of CAD drawings and BOMs
• Ability to establish and maintain an approved vendor list (AVL) of preferred supplier
• Ability to assess and understand individual supplier's capabilities
• Have a fundamental understanding of the product development cycle, manufacturing operations, supplier management, inspection, process development, purchasing and quality assurance
• Have the ability to close out business at one supplier and move the business to another supplier or work with a second source to produce product equivalent and acceptable quality
• Have the ability to understand a material's manufacturability and remediate related issues.
• In-depth knowledge of machining processes, metals, and welding gained via experience working in a machine shop or fabrication business.
