Job Title: Environmental Program Coordinator - Wastewater Surveillance

Job Location: Jefferson City, MO(On-Site)

Contract Duration: 6+ Months
Job Description:

The applicant will oversee autosampler deployment, sampling logistics, data management, and facility support for Missouri's Wastewater Surveillance Program. Key responsibilities include managing autosampler inventory, coordinating sample collection and delivery schedules, and providing technical guidance to facility operators. The role also involves maintaining communication with labs and couriers, addressing logistical or operational issues to ensure seamless program operations and data quality. Additionally, the applicant will track and analyze data, ensuring accuracy to support program objectives.

This position requires expertise in inspecting and investigating environmental sources, controlling facilities involving multiple waste streams (air, water, and solid waste), and enforcing environmental regulations. The applicant will review and evaluate complex pollution control facility plans, reports, tax credit applications, variance requests, and proposed compliance strategies. Responsibilities include negotiating conditions, recommending approvals or disapprovals, and resolving environmental challenges. Coordination with other state agencies, advisory committees, and industry stakeholders is essential.
Required Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in environmental science, public health, biology, engineering, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and database management.
    • Strong troubleshooting skills for addressing equipment issues in remote settings.
    • Experience with autosamplers or similar environmental monitoring equipment is preferred.
    • Familiarity with environmental sampling equipment is a plus.
  • Data & Analysis:
    • Ability to accurately track equipment, sampling schedules, and maintain data quality.
    • Experience with data analysis software (e.g., R, Python, SAS, Tableau) or statistical methods for environmental data is beneficial.
  • Communication & Coordination:
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with facility operators, lab personnel, and couriers.
    • Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, labs, and facility operators.
  • Experience:
    • 3-5 years of experience in environmental monitoring, field operations, or project coordination.
    • Hands-on experience in field sampling, wastewater monitoring, or similar field operations.
    • Background in project coordination, particularly in environmental or public health programs.
    • Understanding of wastewater surveillance protocols, environmental regulations, or public health guidelines.
  • Travel Requirements:
    • This role requires in-state travel with possible overnight stays.
    • Occasional out-of-state travel and overnight stays may be required.
    • Remote options are not available.
