NES Fircroft are currently recruiting an Environmental Engineer on behalf of our valued client, Inpex.

The successful candidate will Provide Environmental engineering support to the project teams and advise on integration with existing operations.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Conduct all activities in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures, ensuring the welfare of personnel and the protection of assets and the environment at all times
  • Participate in assurance activities in support of Business Management System implementation
  • Provide technical environmental review of engineering design documents and construction plans in relation to project greenfield and brownfields projects.
  • Prepare briefing packs for project teams related to engineering risks and options.
  • Conduct and support investigations into environmental events, including risk assessments and identifying controls. 
  • Participate in Pre-FEED and FEED contractor management workshops such as HAZIDs and ENVIDs.
  • Develop an understanding of emissions and discharges on onshore and offshore facilities, and assist with technical scopes such as National Pollutant Inventory (NPI) reporting
  • Review and assist to prepare Environmental approvals documentation where there is an interface between Operations and Phase 2C Project in accordance with agreed schedule, in collaboration with Subject Matter Experts, Environment and third parties (e.g. GIS, noise/air modelling, FEED contractor and EPC contractor).
  • Ensure environment section and scope of works of contractor exhibits is reviewed prior to issue.
  • Participate in HSE assessment of contractor ITT documentation.
  • Review Management of Change requests, or technical queries for both onshore and offshore assets where there is an interface with operations and project teams.
  • Liaise with Ichthys Operations/Project team engineering management team.
  • Advanced technical writing to author, review and/or manage technical reviews
  • Experience with Project or operating LNG plant/offshore facilities
  • Experience with regulator engagement
  • Act as point of contact for Project teams and represent the Environment function advising the Technical Authority on environmental engineering matters
  • Demonstrate the INPEX Values
  • Collaborate with multiple internal stakeholders Department/Divisions
  • Provide support to the Environment Team Lead - Projects as directed
  • Provide functional support to INPEX IMT/CMT process in the event of emergency or simulated emergency scenarios
Skills & Experience Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Demonstrates a high level of technical skills applicable to the role, including experience in interpreting and applying legislative and other legal requirements and with a sound understanding of environmental management processes
  • Experience managing implementation of onshore or offshore petroleum activities including pipeline construction and operation to ensure compliance with environmental approval requirements and commitments, including field-based experience
  • Experience in undertaking environmental inspections and audits on Contractors in an offshore or onshore context
  • Demonstrates attention to detail, ability to follow established procedures and maintain accurate records
  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements related to the OPGGS (Environment) Regulations and/or NT/WA approvals
  • An ability to review documentation/engineering documents/design drawings for completeness and adequacy against regulatory requirements
  • Experience in implementing risk assessment processes, including in relation to new activities and management of change
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, including oral and written communications, and a high level of computer literacy
  • Skilled at prioritization of tasks and problem solving to identify and implement effective solutions to regulatory and other Project challenges
  • Demonstrated ability to work within culturally diverse teams/organisations
