We have a current opportunity for a Oman Compression & Electrification – HSE Lead ( Omani National ) on a contract basis. The position will be based in Muscat, Madinat Qaboos. For further information about this position please apply.

Oman Compression & Electrification – HSE Lead ( Omani National )
Contract Duration : 1 Year ( Yearly renewable )

Work Location : Muscat
Rotation : 2 Weeks on / 2 Weeks off

The HSSE Lead, as a member of the Project leadership team, will have the HSSE accountabilities as detailed below and will drive all project HSSE plans and strategies

Min Requirements

Degree educated, but not necessarily in H&S Management. Having a membership of a recognized health or safety organization is beneficial.
Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety & health or environmental related field, NEBOSH Diploma, HSE Lead Auditor, or equivalent degree/certifications and experience. Minimum 10 years practical experience in industry.
A demonstrable track record of working on large complex onshore projects with multiple contractors, regulators and key partners
A demonstrable track record in onshore construction site HSSE management with current knowledge of Industry HSE and local regulations
A demonstrable track record of leading people and collaborating with Contractor teams
A demonstrable track record of setting high class safety standard and execution plans, openness, reporting and speaking up
Demonstratable experience of preparing Major project HSSE management plans and leading Contractor HSSE assessments for FEED and Execute Contracts.
Experience of preparing and finalizing FEED and Execute HSE contract sections.
Brownfield major project experience
Electrification project experience
Incident Investigation experience
Certified lead investigator


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Safety Leadership principles Implementation: Develop and implement the safety leadership principles for the Project, fostering a culture of safety leadership and continuous improvement.

HSE Management Systems: Define, develop and embed HSSE management systems and supporting performance standards.

Contractor HSE Management: Development of the HSSE T&Cs for FEED and Execute Contracts.
Program Development: Establish and implement safety programs, ensuring contractors develop site-specific campaigns and initiatives to improve personal and process safety, and integrate safety leadership behaviors across the project.

HSE Self-verification and oversight (SV&O): Review and approve Contractor Self-verification programmes. Develop and manage the implementation of the bp Oversight programme, review outputs to Identify gaps, create gap closure plans, and assist with incident investigations and risk assessments.

Workforce Coaching: Work with Contractors to coach the workforce, in conjunction with site HSE advisors, on safety and health procedures/programmes, hazard identification, promotional activities, and training. Stimulate health and safety awareness across the Project.

Frontline Support: Work with Contractors to enhance frontline understanding of safety, hazard identification, and risk management related to safe working practices.

Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement Emergency Response Plans, including medical emergencies, as defined in the bp Projects common process (PDcp) and HSE practice. Working with Regional Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure applicability and alignment with regional plans and processes.

Incident Reporting and Investigation: Ensure that all accidents, incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions are investigated and reported, and corrective actions are promptly taken to prevent reoccurrence of the same.
