Health and Safety Officer
(Trainee)

ROLE DESCRIPTION

We have an exciting opportunity for a Health and Safety Trainee to join a friendly, supportive, and positive West Lancashire College, working within the NCG Estates team. The role is varied with lots of opportunity to develop new skills and knowledge.

You will be required to:

• Lead and promote health and safety for the College, through open engagement with students, staff, and visitors.
• Coordinate the development of health and safety policies, procedures, systems of work, supported by the Assistant Director of Health, Safety and Environment
• Monitoring and maintain a range of digital technologies which enhance our safety management across the college; DSE and Training software, Evolve educational Visits, Internal health and Safety portal etc
• Maintaining up to date knowledge of legislation, guidance and best practice, and communicate relevant changes to affected parties.

As a Health and Safety Trainee, you should be confident, well organised, and proactive with good IT skills and a commitment to providing excellent customer service. You will have a pivotal role in supporting the Curriculum and the Estates team, and no two days will be the same.

Furthermore we will provide for continuous improvement and in supporting the estates team an NVQ 5/6 or Diploma in Occupational health and safety for the incumbent on condition that they complete this within 2 years of appointment. After which they will be appointed as an HSO on point 35 salary

This is a diverse role where you will be building relationships with curriculum and support staff, and many other stakeholders.
