Employment Type: Full-time, 40 Hours per week
Base Salary: £38,000 Per Annum
Essentials:
We're seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Health and Safety Officer to join our Estates team. Reporting to the Head of Estates, you'll play a vital role in promoting a culture of safety and wellbeing across our services. You'll work collaboratively with service managers and teams to ensure compliance with legislation, conduct audits, deliver training, and lead on incident investigations. This is a key role in safeguarding the wellbeing of both the people we support and our workforce.
Qualifications:
• NEBOSH Certificate/ Diploma, NVQ or NCRQ (essential)
• Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role
• Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practices
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and confident in data reporting
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across South Wales

As Health and Safety Officer, you'll support the development, implementation, and monitoring of health and safety policies and procedures across our care settings and support offices. You'll ensure safe working practices, lead audits and inspections, and contribute to continuous improvement through data analysis and reporting. Your work will directly impact the quality of care and safety standards across our organisation.
Role and Responsibilities
• Carry out audits, inspections and unannounced visits
• Conduct risk assessments and implement control measures
• Deliver training sessions and toolbox talks
• Investigate incidents and recommend corrective actions
• Ensure statutory compliance in areas such as fire, water, asbestos, and LOLER
• Maintain accurate records and prepare reports for senior management
• Contribute to the development and review of H&S policies
• Support organisational learning and compliance with GDPR and regulatory standards
Experience
• At least 2 years' experience in a health and safety role
• Proven ability to manage audits, risk assessments, and compliance activities
• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritise workload
• Effective communicator with a collaborative approach
• Self-motivated and resilient under pressure
Desirable:
• Experience in a care or social care setting
• Knowledge of quality assurance and performance monitoring
• Familiarity with hazardous materials, fire safety, and occupational health
• Experience producing analytical audit reports and action plans
