What you will be responsible for
- Own Bitdeer Norway's HSE/HMS framework across our Norwegian data centers - including two operational sites and the new AI/HPC facility under construction.
- Develop, implement, and maintain the HMS (HSE) management system, including policies, procedures, risk assessments, emergency plans, and work instructions in line with Norwegian legislation and Bitdeer global standards.
- Lead risk management activities: conduct and document risk assessments (SJA), job safety analyses and safe work procedures for electrical work, hot work, work at height, lifting operations, confined spaces, and other high-risk tasks.
- Drive incident and deviation management: lead investigations, identify root causes, define corrective and preventive actions, and follow up to closure; track and report HSE KPIs for Norwegian operations.
- Support construction HSE ("SHA") on the AI data center project by acting as Bitdeer's HSE representative towards SHA-coordinators, the main contractor and subcontractors, reviewing SHA plans, participating in design reviews, and joining regular HSE inspections on site.
- Prepare for safe operations of the new AI facility by ensuring that design and construction decisions support safe access, maintenance, egress, and emergency response in the live data center.
- Coordinate with verneombud and AMU: work closely with safety representatives at each site, prepare HSE input to arbeidsmiljøutvalg (AMU) meetings when applicable, and ensure good employee participation in work-environment initiatives.
- Plan and deliver HSE training and onboarding for employees, leaders, and contractors (induction, toolbox talks, emergency drills, and mandatory courses such as first aid, hot work, and fall protection where relevant).
- Run regular HSE inspections and audits of equipment rooms, plant areas and construction zones, document findings, and drive continuous improvement of the physical work environment.
- Manage key HSE processes such as chemical registers, PPE requirements, permit-to-work systems, contractor HSE pre-qualification, and emergency preparedness including drills and lessons learned.
- Act as primary contact for authorities and external stakeholders on HSE matters in Norway (e.g., Arbeidstilsynet and other relevant bodies) and support any inspections or audits.
- Collaborate across countries and functions (operations, projects, HR, legal, and global HSE) to harmonize practices, share lessons learned and implement group-wide HSE initiatives in the Norwegian context.
How you will stand out
- You have solid experience (typically 5+ years) from HSE/HMS roles in data centers, power/energy, industrial production, construction, oil & gas, or other high-risk technical environments in Norway.
- You know Norwegian HSE regulations and practice well (Arbeidsmiljøloven, internkontroll, SHA/byggherreforskrift, etc.) and are comfortable translating legal requirements into practical procedures for managers, technicians, and contractors.
- You are fluent in Norwegian and English, both written and spoken, and can produce clear HMS documentation, training material, and reports in Norwegian while communicating easily with international colleagues.
- You have hands-on site experience - you are comfortable in PPE, walking the floor, joining toolbox talks, and engaging directly with technicians, electricians, and contractors, not just working from an office.
- You enjoy working in the interface between construction and operations and can help the organization think end-to-end: from design and build decisions on the AI data center to safe, reliable 24/7 operations.
- You are structured and analytical, using risk assessments, incident investigations, and data to prioritize actions and communicate clearly where management attention is needed.
- You are a strong relationship-builder who can influence leaders and partners, challenge constructively when safety is at stake, and at the same time support them in finding pragmatic, risk-reducing solutions.
- You thrive in a fast-moving, international company where processes are developing quickly, and you take ownership for building and improving HSE practices rather than just maintaining the status quo.
- Relevant education and certifications (e.g., HSE, engineering, occupational health & safety, NEBOSH, or equivalent Norwegian courses) are appreciated; relevant experience and a strong safety mindset can compensate for formal gaps.
What you will experience working with us
- A culture that values authenticity and diverse perspectives.
- An inclusive, respectful environment with open workspaces and an energetic, start-up spirit.
- A fast-growing company with opportunities to network with industry pioneers and enthusiasts.
- The ability to contribute directly and make an impact on the future of the digital asset and AI computing industry.
- Involvement in new projects and in developing processes/systems.
- Personal accountability, autonomy, rapid growth, and learning opportunities.
- Attractive benefits and development such as training and mentoring.
