JCA Engineering (part of Mitie) are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Advisor to support our business in delivering safe, compliant and high-performing projects. You'll work closely with Directors, Managers and site teams, helping embed best practice across all stages of our contracts while ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation.

This is an excellent opportunity for an HSE professional with construction experience who wants to make a tangible impact within a respected, growing engineering services business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide practical HSE advice and guidance across all contracts, from inception to completion
  • Ensure the JCA Safe System of Work is fully implemented and consistently followed on site
  • Carry out site HSE inspections in line with the JCA Monitoring Schedule
  • Conduct audits to support and maintain ISO 45001 accreditation
  • Support and assist with accident and incident investigations
  • Advise on and review site-specific risk assessments and method statements (RAMS)
  • Contribute to HSE content for PQQs, CPPs and tender submissions
  • Engage with delivery teams early in the contract lifecycle to drive HSE best practice
  • Support client and external accreditation audits
  • Coordinate and complete DSE assessments for JCA employees
  • Produce monthly H&S reports for inclusion in senior management and Executive Board reports
  • Carry out regular subcontractor compliance inspections
  • Monitor changes in health and safety legislation and proactively brief senior management
  • Escalate and act on any situations requiring immediate corrective action or work stoppage

What We're Looking For
  • NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent qualification)
  • Minimum 1 year's experience in a similar HSE role
  • Strong working knowledge of health, safety, quality assurance and ISO 45001
  • Experience working directly with end-user H&S teams
  • Background in construction projects and maintenance delivery
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • CSCS Safety Professional Card
  • IOSH membership
