Overview

We are currently hiring for a Construction Site Health and Safety Advisor for a large-scale construction project based in he Netherlands. Reporting to the Site Construction Manager and Manager of Group Construction Health & Safety Services, they will be responsible for implementing a project-specific Construction Health & Safety programme to deliver best in class performance.

Responsibilities

SCOPE

Safety Leadership
  • Provide field safety leadership
  • Monitor health and safety policy implementation
  • Enforce regulatory compliance
  • Support safe working practices
  • Deputize for HSE Manager when required
  • Stop unsafe work immediately
  • Promote safety awareness campaigns

Training & Development
  • Deliver site safety inductions
  • Conduct HSE training sessions
  • Lead toolbox talk evaluations
  • Coach field personnel
  • Provide legislative updates
  • Support safety communications
  • Guide safe work practices

Field Operations Support
  • Assist package owners and supervisors
  • Review method statements and risk assessments
  • Evaluate lift plans
  • Monitor permit compliance
  • Support contractor safety programs
  • Guide SPA implementation
  • Ensure safety equipment availability

Inspection & Monitoring
  • Perform daily site inspections
  • Monitor temporary facilities
  • Participate in audit programs
  • Review contractor compliance
  • Track safety equipment condition
  • Report safety findings
  • Assess work practices

Communication & Coordination
  • Support HSE communications
  • Attend safety meetings
  • Coordinate with stakeholders
  • Promote safety awareness
  • Liaise with contractors
  • Support commissioning interface
  • Facilitate progress meetings

Incident Management
  • Support incident investigations
  • Assist with accident analysis
  • Monitor incident closeout
  • Document lessons learned
  • Track corrective actions
  • Guide preventive measures

Qualifications

  • Primary Degree in Engineering, Science or equivalent, in conjunction with a recognized Diploma in the Occupational Health and Safety
  • Chartered member of IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) or equivalent qualification would be an advantage
  • An advanced knowledge of construction health and safety principles with proven technical skills in occupational safety and health disciplines with a minimum 5 years' experience in a related role
  • Experience in implementing behavioural safety programmes
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; strong influencing and negotiation skills. A demonstrated ability to communicate and influence at management and operator levels within a project organisation
  • Proficient in the use of MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook
