As an HSE Expert with a strong affinity for environmental topics, you contribute across the full HSE scope while acting as the go-to specialist for environmental themes. You help shape and strengthen the environmental approach within the offshore domain by ensuring compliance, supporting improvement initiatives and building organizational capability around waste management, emissions and environmental impact.

This is not a narrow environmental role. You operate broadly as an HSE expert, contributing to procedures, audits, risk management and overall HSE performance within the offshore division.

Your profile and background

You thrive in environments where multiple interests meet. With a clear vision on environmental performance, you are able to persuade, collaborate, and act decisively-whether working independently or alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams. Your work helps safeguard TenneT's license to operate while supporting innovation and growth.

Your experience

  • BSc in Engineering (environmental, chemical, mechanical, process engineering, or similar).
  • Strong affinity with environmental engineering and environmental compliance.
  • Proven experience with environmental impact assessment methodologies.
  • 5-10 years of relevant HSE and/or process-industry experience.
  • Excellent writing skills, particularly for policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Fluency in English and willingness to learn Dutch.

Your contribution to TenneT

You will join the HSE Offshore Expert Team, supporting the organization across Health, Safety & Environment. As HSE Expert, you combine a broad HSE role with a strong focus on environmental topics. You act as the go-to specialist for environmental compliance, waste management and emissions, while contributing to overall HSE performance within the offshore division.

Your responsibilities

  • Act as subject-matter expert on environmental compliance, permits, reporting and impact assessments
  • Drive improvements in waste management, emissions and environmental performance
  • Translate environmental requirements into practical guidance for operations
  • Contribute to HSE procedures, standards and continuous improvement
  • Support incident investigations, risk assessments and internal audits
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, engineering and project teams

This will be our challenge

Offshore is responsible for the development, construction, and management of the offshore electricity grid. With the North Sea as the green engine of the energy transition, Offshore plays a clear and vital role within TenneT's organisational structure.

The Offshore division manages the entire lifecycle of all TenneT offshore installations, from development and realisation to maintenance and handover to the Operate division. A crucial task is the construction of 2 GW offshore 'sockets', which collect and transport generated wind energy to the mainland.

  • In first instance a year contract with the intention of following up with a permanent contract.
  • Market-conform base salary in scale 8: €4.276,- to €8.443,- per month,
  • Extra 8% holiday pay and a 6% year-end bonus, with 70% pension contribution.
  • Flexible benefits including hybrid working, travel allowance, internet reimbursement, and a home office allowance.
