Health & Safety Officer Independent Education Setting

£40,000 to £50,000 depending on experience

Pivotal Partnerships is recruiting on behalf of a client for a Health & Safety Officer to join a respected independent education setting in Northwood, Greater London.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who understands the pace, variety and responsibility of working in education. The role would suit someone from a school, college, university, academy trust or similar environment.
The organisation is already in a strong position, so this is about building on good foundations, improving systems and helping embed a positive health and safety culture.
The Role
You will act as a key point of contact for health and safety across the organisation, working closely with operations, estates, teaching staff and support teams.

You may currently be a Health & Safety Officer, Health & Safety Advisor, Risk and Compliance Officer, Estates Compliance Officer or Facilities Compliance Officer.

You will be working with busy teaching staff, estates teams, support colleagues, contractors and senior leaders. You will need to challenge when needed, but in a way that brings people with you.

The Role

You will be responsible for:
- Providing practical health and safety advice
- Supporting risk assessments and safe working practices
- Maintaining COSHH and compliance records
- Carrying out site inspections
- Supporting fire safety procedures and records
- Overseeing accident, incident and near miss reporting
- Managing RIDDOR reporting where required
- Supporting audits, inspections and servicing records
- Delivering H&S, fire safety and risk assessment training
- Supporting inspection readiness
- Working with estates on contractor safety and compliance
- Reviewing policies, procedures and safety systems
You may currently be a Health & Safety Officer, Health & Safety Advisor, Risk and Compliance Officer, Estates Compliance Officer or Facilities Compliance Officer.
You will need:
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent
- Practical health and safety experience
- Good knowledge of UK H&S legislation
- Experience with risk assessments, COSHH and incident reporting
- Fire safety awareness
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Excel
- Strong communication and report-writing skills
- Confidence delivering training or staff briefings
- Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills
