Our Client has a requirement for a Technical Design Manager, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Falmer (hybrid working with site travel).
Role Purpose:
- Lead technical design governance across water infrastructure projects
- Ensure robust engineering solutions from concept through to delivery
- Oversee design development, ensuring quality, compliance, and efficiency
- Support the delivery of cost-effective, sustainable engineering solutions
Job Role Responsibilities:
- Provide technical assurance across Design Managers and discipline engineers
- Lead solution development from initial need through optioneering and detailed design
- Ensure designs are deliverable, cost-effective, and aligned to programme requirements
- Identify and manage technical risks across the design lifecycle
- Collaborate with clients, construction teams, and supply chain partners
- Drive buildability and efficiency within design outputs
- Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and internal governance processes
- Promote innovation and continuous improvement in engineering delivery
Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:
- Engineering background with degree qualification (or equivalent)
- Strong experience in water / wastewater infrastructure projects
- Background working in design-build or contractor environments
- Proven experience at Design Manager / Engineering Manager / Technical Lead level
- Strong understanding of design governance and technical delivery
- Commercial awareness with experience reviewing technical documentation
- Ability to manage scope changes and stakeholder expectations
Desirable:
- Chartered Engineer status (or working towards)
- Experience working in joint venture environments
- Experience with offsite or modular design solutions
