We're looking for a Health & Safety Advisor to join our Operations team, supporting Health & Safety activities across all Kerakoll sites and our field-based workforce. This is a highly visible role focused on promoting a proactive safety culture, ensuring compliance with legislation and internal standards, and driving continuous improvement across the business.
As a Health & Safety Advisor at Kerakoll, you will work closely with operational teams, engineering, maintenance, contractors and key stakeholders to identify and manage workplace risks, investigate incidents, implement corrective actions and support the consistent application of Health & Safety procedures across all areas of the business. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will play a key role in promoting a positive Safety-First culture whilst supporting the practical application of H&S legislation, including DSEAR and COSHH requirements.
This is an exceptionally varied role where no two days are the same. You will regularly engage with teams across multiple departments and sites, carrying out workplace inspections, supporting risk assessments, analysing H&S performance data and delivering practical safety improvements. You will also support accident and near miss investigations, safety training initiatives, emergency response activities and ongoing compliance with ISO accreditations and ESG-related requirements.
To be successful in this role, you will be a proactive and confident communicator who can positively challenge behaviours, influence stakeholders at all levels and translate regulatory requirements into practical operational measures. You will thrive in a hands-on environment, balancing strategic thinking with day-to-day operational support.
This is a full-time, permanent Monday to Friday role. The position is multi-site and field-based, requiring regular travel across Kerakoll locations. Working with a high level of autonomy, you will collaborate closely with teams across Operations, Engineering and Production, regularly visiting sites and engaging with stakeholders to promote safe ways of working and maintain consistent Health & Safety standards across the business. Responsibilities
What You'll be Doing at Kerakoll
- Leading and driving Health & Safety standards across all Kerakoll sites and field-based teams
- Promoting a proactive Safety-First culture across all departments and levels of the business
- Supporting compliance with Health & Safety legislation, internal standards and company procedures
- Conducting workplace inspections, audits and site visits to identify risks and ensure safe ways of working
- Supporting and leading accident investigations, near miss reviews and root cause analysis activities
- Implementing practical corrective and preventative actions to drive continuous improvement
- Working closely with Operations, Engineering, Production and Maintenance teams to manage workplace and machinery-related risks
- Supporting the practical application of DSEAR and COSHH requirements across operational activities
- Reviewing manufacturer documentation and residual risks relating to machinery and equipment
- Monitoring, analysing and reporting on Health & Safety performance data, trends and KPIs
- Preparing clear reports, insights and recommendations to support business decision-making
- Supporting the development and delivery of Health & Safety training, inductions and awareness initiatives
- Managing and supporting safety representatives, emergency response activities and safety drills
- Ensuring contractors and visitors comply with site Health & Safety procedures and standards
- Supporting ISO accreditations, ESG-related audits and wider compliance activities
- Building strong working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across multiple sites and departments
- Regularly travelling across Kerakoll sites and shadowing field-based teams to support safe operational practices
Qualifications
What you'll Bring to Kerakoll
- Previous experience within a Health & Safety role in a manufacturing, industrial, construction materials or operational environment
- A strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation, compliance and risk management principles
- Good understanding of machinery safety, including the interpretation and management of residual risks
- Familiarity with DSEAR regulations and their practical application within operational environments
- Basic experience in handling chemicals and understanding of COSHH control measures
- Experience carrying out risk assessments, audits, workplace inspections and incident investigations
- Knowledge and experience of ISO45001 and ISO14001 standards and associated compliance requirements
- Experience in Health & Safety data reporting and analysis, with the ability to identify trends and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Formal Health & Safety qualification such as IOSH, NEBOSH or equivalent practical experience
- The ability to influence, challenge and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical or regulatory requirements into practical operational guidance
- A proactive, hands-on and solutions-focused approach to problem solving
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities across different sites
- The confidence to work independently whilst also collaborating effectively across teams and departments
- A genuine passion for promoting safe working environments and driving positive safety behaviours
- A willingness to travel regularly across multiple locations and engage with field-based teams
- A commitment to personal development and continuously improving Health & Safety standards across the business
