Wood is recruiting a Principal Environmental Engineer / Advisor as part of our strategic growth plan for 2024 and beyond. You will join our Operations business in a pivotal role as we partner with major operators in the oil & gas and new energies (ammonia, hydrogen, solar) industries. Based in Perth CBD, this is an ongoing role and is available as a full-time / part-time (job share) / contractor basis.
Wood's "Operations" APAC West business delivers brownfields engineering, procurement, construction, optimisation, and technical services and enjoys long-term partnerships with some of the region's most prominent operators located in Western Australia, Northern Territory and Southeast Asia.

In this highly visible client-facing role, your dual focus on relationships and delivery will be essential. Anticipating client needs beyond the immediate scope, you will drive technical excellence and assurance on the Environmental engineering portion while enabling the ongoing growth and development of your team. You will also work in close partnership with other disciplines and the client to enable robust technical decisions that ultimately add value to the client and asset portfolio.

QUALIFICATIONS
You will be able to work lawfully in Australia and hold full working rights for this location. If you have a visa application in progress, you are also encouraged to apply.
Suitably qualified with an Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering degree or equivalent from a recognised institution, ideally you will have proven experience working in a similar Principal / Lead Environmental Engineering / Advisory role, supported by 15+ years of relevant design engineering experience within the Oil & Gas production and / or processing industries.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Discipline Manager, you will balance technical, client, and project leadership across offshore and onshore energy processing facilities and thrive on the challenge of:
- Working across a range of engineering projects at any phase including: - concept identification, selection and definition, FEED, detailed design/execute, commissioning and start-up, and closeout.
- Provision of environmental support and technical environmental advice to Wood engineering, construction, and operations through tasks such as: environmental risk assessment, Emissions & Discharges Assessments, preparation and implementation of Construction Environmental Management Plans, Waste Management Plans, Performance Standard and Environmental Critical Elements Assessment, Erosion and Sedimentation Plans as examples
- Representing the Environmental discipline in ENVID / HAZID workshops, design and engineering reviews. .
- Understanding of and guidance in Federal and State environmental approvals and permit management.
- Support the adoption of best practice environmental design and implementation strategies across Wood projects.
- Maintaining Environmental Management System (EMS) compliance requirements, inclusive of inspection and audit where required.

- Have a professional level of knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks and legislation with an ability to apply relevant technical practices, codes, and standards.
- Be commercially astute with a "solutions mindset", skilled in the management of risk during the design process consistent with safety, technical and commercial requirements.
- Be an articulate communicator (both written and verbal), with well-developed technical report writing and professional presentation skills.
- Have a passion for energy security / transition with the vision to navigate energy models of the future, coupled with your proven experience partnering with clients to be more efficient, sustainable, and optimised to deliver the best energy mix in their respective markets.
