Let me tell you about the role

As a Lead Solution Architect, you will work with a collaborative team and will play a meaningful role in overseeing the design and implementation of technology architecture, ensuring alignment with business goals. Working with the senior leaders and technical teams to create roadmaps, drive standards, innovation, ensuring scalability and security while supporting the organization's simplification goals. You will also mentor other architects and evaluate emerging technologies to enhance operational efficiency.

What you will deliver

Architecture: Understand the full stack and develop common patterns and reference architectures for application development. You care passionately about the developer experience and productivity making it as easy as possible for them to build solutions on a common technology stack. You also have experience of business requirement analysis, assessment of multiple solution options (build vs. buy), preparing architecture recommendation with detailed solution architecture that fits the requirement.

• Relationships: You will understand the business needs of the different parts of our businesses and developer communities, and our key technology ecosystems, building strong relationships both inside and outside of BP.

• Technology: An excellent technologist passionate about understanding and learning, contributing to digital transformation from an architectural perspective. Brings hands-on skills in key technologies and quickly assesses emerging technologies commercially.

• Collaboration: Establishes team abilities, demonstrating leadership through delegation, motivation, and trust. Builds positive relationships, advises business leaders on technology, and mentors within Digital delivery teams. Encourage engagement with technology as a driver of change. Understands long-term solution needs and fosters rapport with team members inside and outside BP

• Delivery: You will also support the DevOps team in building and sustaining the application portfolio

What you will need to be successful (experience and qualifications)

Education

Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field-or equivalent professional experience.

Essential skills

• Demonstrable experience delivering multi-vendor, multi-product technology solutions at a global scale, including cloud, hybrid, and on-premise environments.

• Expertise in enterprise architecture, scalable, modular solutions, security frameworks, and automation to improve operational efficiency.

• Strong leadership abilities in building and coaching high-performing teams

• Applying agile methodologies and design thinking to drive digital transformation and architectural innovation.

• Proficiency in evaluating emerging technologies (e.g., cloud platforms, AI/ML, edge computing) and assessing their business and operational impact.

• Understanding of risk, compliance, and security practices, ensuring all architectures support safe, robust digital operations.

• Ability to translate sophisticated technical concepts into clear, accessible language for collaborators at all levels.

Desirable skills

The ideal candidate will also have exposure to adjacent technology domains, such as cybersecurity and AI/ML, as well as familiarity with enterprise platforms, large-scale digital transformation initiatives, and automation frameworks. A growth mindset is important, along with a passion for continuous learning and staying informed about the latest technology trends.
