Your role and responsibilities:
As RouteGuard Operations Manager you will be part of an international team of enthusiastic colleagues working from the Netherlands and the Philippines. The RouteGuard team is part of Shipping Operations, supporting both our FleetGuard Managed product and our RouteGuard service. You will build a strong relation with our Shipping customers, providing excellent service, high quality and ongoing support. Your primary responsibility is weather routing and post voyage performance analysis. You will communicate with captains and operators to provide the best in class routing service during the voyage, and provide performance analysis after the voyage. We expect people to oversee and manage their own workload, can set priorities and keep a high-quality standard under pressure. Next to that, we're looking for people that do not accept the status quo but are keen to think about improving our procedures and services to our customers.
As operations manager you're in a leadership role, providing operational and personal guidance. You'll be responsible for the local RouteGuard team in Utrecht, and will combine this with running operational shifts yourself. You're able to stay calm and maintain overview, and prioritize the proper actions.
The Team
You'll be part of the Marine & Ports department, where we develop cutting-edge electrical and automation solutions for the maritime industry. Our technology in energy, drives, and automation has set industry standards for decades. As operations manager you're in a leadership role, providing operational and personal guidance. - Manage team members, including regular conversations, providing support, and conducting performance evaluations.
- Ensure training is provided on new products and services, as well as on the technical skills required to meet customer requirements.
- Develop relationships with stakeholders to understand strategic direction, and communicate and implement related tactical actions.
- Review team performance and implement actions to ensure high-quality service delivery to customers.
- Actively contribute to team building and continuous improvement, taking responsibility for improvement plans, raising issues and proposing solutions, and encouraging others to do the same.
- In addition to managerial responsibilities, actively supports the team by contributing to core operational tasks such as weather monitoring and analysis, route advisory, post-voyage assessments, customer consultancy, and handling complex queries.

Qualifications for the role

we are looking for candidates with:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Meteorology, Oceanography, Maritime Studies, or a related technical field.
- 2+ years of experience in the maritime field, ideally as an Officer. Experience as a Route Analyst is a plus.
- Proven leadership experience.
- Strong understanding of weather routing, voyage planning, and maritime operations.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, with the ability to liaise effectively with captains, operators, and internal teams.
- Ability to work under pressure, set priorities, and maintain high-quality standards in a dynamic environment.
- Customer-focused mindset with a strong sense of responsibility and service delivery.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess performance data and translate insights into actionable improvements.
- Proactive attitude with a drive to continuously improve processes, team performance, and customer satisfaction.
- Experience with operational planning tools or maritime routing systems is a plus.
- Willingness to work operational shifts, including weekends or outside regular hours.
