  • The total compensation range $80-85k OTE per year. Actual compensation on this range varies based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including location, job level, prior experience, and skill set.

JOB PURPOSE

The Business Analyst will partner with executive and sales leadership to deliver data-driven insights that accelerate decision-making in the PV wholesale distribution space. This role requires a B2B solar sales background (solar distributor, panel manufacturer, or related solar hardware), deep knowledge of industry trends, pricing strategies, and installer needs, and the ability to turn complex data into actionable strategies.

The Business Analyst will report to the VP, Sales.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

PRIMARY DUTIES &RESPONSIBILITIES

Sales Analysis: 25%
  • Analyze point-of-sale (POS) data for trends in installer purchasing patterns across PV modules, inverters, racking, and balance-of-system components.
  • Track sales rep performance, product category shifts, and vendor changes specific to the solar hardware market.
  • Conduct pricing analysis to help sales leaders drive gross margin growth on PV products.
  • Monitor industry pricing trends for solar hardware and proactively adjust pricing strategies in NetSuite.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly reports for executive review, including market share trends in solar distribution.
  • Support sales leaders in developing customer-facing materials for quarterly business reviews (QBRs) with installer accounts.
  • Prepare monthly solar sales commission reports in collaboration with Finance.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards tracking solar-specific KPIs (e.g., cost per watt trends, fulfillment lead times).
  • Provide insights to business development on emerging hardware opportunities within the PV distribution market.

Operations Analysis: 25%
  • Analyze fulfillment efficiency data for solar product shipments to reduce cross-shipping and improve installer customer experience.
  • Review freight and delivery costs for PV products, identifying opportunities to recover costs and improve EBIT.
  • Evaluate warehouse capacity, throughput, and labor efficiency for solar hardware distribution centers.
  • Provide operational data to support General Managers in staffing and facility decisions tied to solar demand cycles.

Financial Analysis:25%
  • Partner with GMs on monthly financial analysis of solar regional performance.
  • Assist in developing annual budgets, incorporating solar hardware sales forecasts and cost projections.
  • Review financial results to recommend actions that improve solar sales and operational margins.

Special Projects: 25%
  • Prepare solar market data for leadership presentations, town halls, and team meetings.
  • Model structural or compensation changes tied to solar hardware sales team performance.
  • Support strategy discussions on solar product expansion or market entry based on analysis.
  • Assist sales teams with occasional customer-facing activities, such as product line reviews or installer trainings.
  • Provide ad hoc data analysis for executive or GM requests tied to the PV distribution business.

Other projects as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, deductive reasoning, problem solving, and analytical skills to interpret data, understand demand trends and take appropriate actions.
  • Proven track record of collaboration skills required to drive operational efficiency with high levels of personal accountability/reliability, including driving impact across teams.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment with a rapid rate of change. The ability to make effective decisions, even in the absence of complete information.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum 2 years proven experience in B2B solar sales or distribution - ideally in a solar panel distributor, solar panel manufacturer, or related solar hardware products
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to turn data into actionable insights
  • Experience with NetSuite or other ERP/CRM systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and other analysis tools
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment with changing priorities

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job there will be:
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, use repetitive motion, type, and hear.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle and feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Occasionally required to bend, kneel, crouch, climb stairs, and reach overhead.

SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS:
  • None

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Willing to travel between 5% to 10% of time.
