Job Summary

Essential Functions

An Operations Supervisor is a critical leadership role within power generation facilities, responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and continuous electrical energy production. This role demands technical expertise, supervisory experience, strong safety awareness, and the ability to manage complex operational challenges under varied conditions. Supervisors play a central role in optimizing plant performance, mentoring staff, and maintaining compliance with industry standards.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulatory compliance with local, state, and federal environmental and safety standards.
  • Supervise operation and maintenance of power generation equipment such as turbines, boilers, generators, and electrical systems to ensure continuous and efficient energy production.
  • Manage, schedule, and train personnel, including shift operators and maintenance staff, to maintain operational readiness and foster professional development.
  • Prepare and maintain operational schedules, logs, and reports documenting equipment status, production metrics, and maintenance activities.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies and equipment failures, leading efforts to troubleshoot, mitigate damage, and restore normal operations.
  • Coordinate with management and other departments to optimize plant performance, recommend operational improvements, and support capital projects or upgrades.
  • Oversee procurement of equipment, supplies, and materials necessary for smooth plant functioning.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • 7+ years of proven experience supervising generation operations.
  • Strong understanding of power generation equipment, systems, and control technologies.
  • Ability to manage personnel effectively, resolve conflicts, research and conduct grievance hearings, interpret & apply company / union contract.
  • Ability to inspire, guide, and coordinate teams effectively while fostering collaboration and accountability.
  • Capacity to analyze operational data, evaluate processes, and make decisions quickly in high-pressure or emergency situations.
  • Strong communication skills for coordination with staff, management, and external regulators.
  • Physical stamina to work in demanding industrial environments, including shift work and variable weather conditions.
  • Ability to work 7x7 rotating shift work schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred (additional qualifications)
  • Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using operational software (i.e. Emerson Ovation and GE Mark VIe), data analysis tools, and SAP work and asset management system.
  • Previous experience leading represented employee.

Salary Range*:
$93,800.00 - $140,700.00

*The salary offered to a candidate is based on several factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills, job-related knowledge, and relevant experience, as well as internal pay equity.
