What you will be doing:
An opportunity has arisen for a Project Manager to join our Silo team at Galliford Try Digital infrastructure Business based at Farnborough.
Ideally you will live within commuter distance of Farnborough as expected to work from this office Monday to Friday unless required to travel to various site locations in the UK including internal and client meetings.
Galliford Try's Digital Infrastructure business works predominately within the UK's Critical National Infrastructure market, focusing on Defence for this position. We deliver multi-site programs, and our expertise, together with our specialist construction knowledge and experience, enables us to efficiently deliver fully integrated programmes and portfolios of work on critical operational assets.
In this role as Project Manager you will be providing professional project management support to develop plans and manage delivery of a number of sites that the Silo will work on and can be located in various parts of the UK. You will support and manage the Silo team, consisting of Commercial Manager, Security Coordinator, and document administrator including developing site specific information with the site managers who will manage each site. Objectives are to ensure compliance to all Health, safety and environmental requirements, maintain the security posture, deliver each site to budget and time, ensuring risks and issues are effectively managed.

Galliford Try's Digital Infrastructure business works predominantly within the UK's Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) market, focusing on the Telecommunications, Defence, Energy, Water and Transport sectors. We deliver national projects and multi-site frameworks through our specialist knowledge and vast experience in the acquisition, planning, design and delivery processes.
Through a recent a transformation, leveraging its 30 plus years of experience, a new strategy has been developed by the business as part of our updated Sustainable Growth Strategy, targeting growth in adjacent and emerging markets such as core networks, private networks, electric vehicle charging infrastructure and renewable energy, while maintaining and strengthening our existing operations and capabilities around wireless telecoms networks and defence/sensitive projects. - Maintain and enforce compliance with current HSEQ legislation and Galliford Try' policies, standards and requirements.
- Ensure resources are employed and appointed with the appropriate levels of HSEQ competency & training for the required roles.
- Monitor the overall HSEQ performance on each of the site projects and ensure that appropriate action is taken whenever operations fail to meet the required standards.
- Understand and agreeing project objectives and plans with the Programme Manager and Core Team.
- Day to day management of the Silo Team.
- Representing Galliford Try's interests when engaging with the Client and Suppliers aligning interests wherever possible.
- Making sure that the aims of the project and the deliverables of the site works are met and raising exception reports to the Core Team.
- Setting out a programme of works for the Silo site deliverables and agreeing with the Core Team.
- Managing the delivery of each site to agreed time, cost and quality schedules and contracts.
- Maintaining the Risk, Assumption, Issues and Dependencies (RAID) log along with the Commercial support.
- Organising the silo team and site management resource, to ensure respective inputs and outputs.
- Making sure the site is working to the quality standards agreed to by the Client.
- Ensure weekly site reports and reports by exception are provided to the core team in a timely manner.
- Ensure each site has a programme of works in alignment with the Contract Activity schedule.
- Carry out the Contract Administration duties in conjunction with the silo team and site management.
- Monitor progress of sub contractors, and Tasking works.
- Reporting to the Programme Manager
About You:
- Proven ability to plan, organise and deliver projects of work to deadlines and budgets.
- Knowledge of NEC contracts
- Understanding of security compliance and controls.
- Good knowledge of civils work design and technical matters.
- Communications skill, both oral and written updates and reports
- Good motivator for managing the Silo team
- Have excellent communication skills
- Experience within the Defence and construction industries and knowledge of the relevant standards.
- Security: be able to achieve security clearance to DV (mandatory).
- Previous experience on large scale civils defence/MoD projects would be preferable
