Job Purpose
Lead the team that is responsible for achieving the project objectives. Project managers direct the planning and execution of a project and personally commit to the success of the project. They nurture the project to meet its objectives. To set scope and develop project plan, business case and execution tactical plan, in line with the Business / Department strategy, project and functional standards ensuring a successful delivery of the aimed project result.
Key Accountabilities
The Project Manager is responsible for managing and delivering the project on time, in full and on/below budget. The Project Manager should also make sure that the project complies with the AkzoNobel Policies and Procedures for projects.

Competencies
1. Industrial Project Management (CAPEX & Engineering)
• Several years of experience in planning and managing capital investment projects (revamping, new production lines, infrastructure, utilities).
• Full lifecycle project management: Business Case → Basic & Detailed Engineering → Procurement → Construction → Commissioning → Handover.
• Knowledge of EHS procedures and permit-to-work systems for industrial sites.
• Experience working with equipment suppliers and contractors (mechanical, electrical, automation).
2. Project Governance and Stakeholder Management
• Experience in managing multi-stakeholder projects, liaising with:
o Site management and corporate functions (Finance, HSE, Quality, Procurement)
o Process engineering, maintenance, operations, and R&D
o External suppliers and consultants
• Leading project reviews, gate meetings, and progress reporting (KPIs, cost, schedule, risks).
3. Budgeting and Financial Control
• Management of CAPEX budgets up to €2M.
• Experience in cost/benefit analysis, cost control, and financial forecasting.
• Familiarity with company procedures for investment approvals and purchase order management.
4. Methodologies and Tools
• Basic knowledge of Lean Six Sigma, Change Management, and structured problem-solving tools.
5. Leadership and Communication
• Experience in coordinating cross-functional teams and managing indirect reports.
• Ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels (from shop floor to top management).
• Experience in post-project reviews, lessons learned, and continuous improvement initiatives.

- Prepare the project & create the project plan
- Lead the project team & execute the project plan
- Handover the result & close the project
- Ensure proper stakeholder management and deliver value for the customer
- Define and negotiate project objectives, deliverables and roles when working with outsourced business partners
- Promote best practice methods, approaches and practices for project management across the AkzoNobel community through mentoring, coaching and demonstrating project management leadership
- Organize post project reviews and document lessons learned and contribute to have Projects Management and standard Project Management methodology continuously optimized
Requiments
- BS/BA degree in Engineering, or related Analytical field required
- Experience in Project Management and / or experience in R&D / IT or other relevant experience needed for the project, Experience in managing CAPEX is also required.
- Technical Skills:
- Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and CAD software is preferred.
- Knowledge of ERP systems, specifically SAP, is required.
- Language Skills:
Good knowledge of English and Italian is required.
