Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic Assistant Project Manager to contribute to the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project based at our site in Redcar.
Role purpose: This role is an opportunity for an APM to work alongside the Project Director and Delivery Director on the NZT project. The role is required to work alongside the BB and c ustomer project management team in executing project management tasks to promote collaboration and information management.

What you'll be doing
The successful candidate will have the following accountabilities:
Governance
- Assists to maintain accurate project records (progress, daily diaries etc.)
- Prepare both internal/external reports and liaise with stakeholders
- Initiates good scope/information/configuration management principles
- Helps to ensure reports provide relevant information to enable informed, cost
effective decisions in line with overall strategy
- Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm & keep up to date with changes in
legislation - Partially responsible for the safety and welfare of the general public, employees and supply chain
- Help to develop, implement and update resource allocation plans (OBS) and raise appropriate requests
- Motivate and empower the team using the resources available through training,
mentoring and performance management. - Produce plans for the team to achieve goals/aspirations
- Log and escalate any issues that cannot be resolved at delegated level of authority
- Assist management of subcontractors, including monitoring of contractor attendance and progress, providing direct instruction and support as necessary, such that contractual arrangements are achieved
- Follow targets/KPI's in line with project objectives and monitor performance
- Ensure assurance activities (audits) are undertaken and take appropriate action on findings
- Help to develop, implement and periodically update resource loaded schedules
- Ensure team adopt productivity and project controls techniques
- Ensure that expenditure is in line with the budget and that resources are utilised
efficiently to ensure cost control - Able to identify elements for cost recovery from others
- Awareness of Digital Group Minimum Standards and operate with appropriate level of digital tools
- Seek coaching so that the team has the correct level of training
The following qualities/experience are essential:
- Experience in implementing safe systems of work;
- Experience in managing risks and change processes;
- Good understanding of the standard forms of contracts;
- Proficient in commercial/project management communications;
- Able to communicate effectively both verbal and written with all levels of
the organisation; - Good interpersonal skills that enable working relationships to be
developed at all levels across the business and be able to negotiate and
influence; - Able to undertake work in high pressure situations with a flexible attitude;
- A record of a solutions-based approach to problem solving.
- Experience of working on a variety of project types;
- Is a member of a professional management body i.e. APM;
- Proficient on O365;
- Holds a current driving licence.
- Holds or working towards a formal qualification (BSc/MSc) in
management/construction (or experience equivalent); - Holds or working towards either the APM PFQ/PMQ;
- Holds CSCS and SSSTS (or equivalent).
