Purpose of the Role
As Principal Project Manager, you will lead, develop and manage the Project Management function to ensure we deliver a best-in-class service to our customers. You will monitor and evaluate project delivery against the Phase 3 Project Delivery Methodology and work closely with internal teams to ensure consistent, high-quality standards across every project. As Principal, you will support the wider delivery teams with escalations, planning, resourcing and play a key role in embedding and evolving the Project Delivery Methodology across the organisation.

Contribution to Business Growth & Development:
• Manage and lead on the delivery of comprehensive and complex project management consultancy services.
• Promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, identifying opportunities for process, system and delivery improvements.
• Take ownership of the Project Delivery Methodology and associated templates to support consistency across delivery teams.
• Mentor and develop talent within the Project Management team, supporting capability growth and knowledge sharing.
• Work alongside the Sales team to support activity relating to project management services for prospects.
• Develop project management strategies, standards and approaches to ensure the highest level of service to clients.
• Provide coaching and support to Project Managers to enable them to deliver a best-in-class service to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
• Use PowerBI dashboards to monitor project performance, identify trends and intervene when needed.
• Use Teamwork to plan and update projects, allocate time and log hours accordingly.
• Work with Resource Planning and Senior Managers to ensure projects are resourced effectively based on capability and availability.
• Lead and embed the Project Delivery Methodology across Phase 3 to ensure consistency and high-quality delivery.
• Line-manage and develop Project Managers.
• Provide expert insight and decision-making support on project risks, issues and priorities.
• Conduct quality assurance reviews aligned to the Project Delivery Methodology.
• Establish and maintain governance processes including change control, risk management and communication plans.
• Produce high-quality documentation to support delivery and decision-making.
• Promote accountability, professionalism and accuracy across all project outputs.
• Monitor team utilisation and ensure delivery targets (minimum 80%) are met.
• Support onboarding of new partnerships and ensure project delivery structures are in place to support successful outcomes.

Essential Requirements
• Extensive project management experience in HCM, Payroll or Finance system implementations.
• Proven track record working on large or complex engagements.
• PRINCE2 or Agile Practitioner qualification (or equivalent).
• Confidence in managing challenging customer conversations and escalations.
• Demonstrable experience in owning and applying full project lifecycles and methodologies.
• Strong contextual understanding of HR and Payroll across multiple sectors.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong analytical skills with a willingness to continuously learn and develop.
• Leadership skills with the ability to empower and motivate teams.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to identify risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
• Proven financial and commercial awareness, including management of varying project budgets.
• Experience leading customers and internal teams, ensuring governance, quality and performance standards are met.
• Willingness to travel up to 50%.
• Experience with two or more of the following is an advantage: Sage People, Sage Payroll, Sage Intacct, PeopleXD, CoreHR, iTrent.

Ideal start date: December 2025.

£55,000 + 15% OTE
