Are you excited about AI and it's potential to transform Public Services? We're looking for a motivated Project Manager to lead the delivery of a range of AI and Digital projects within Leicester City Council's Social Care & Education Department.
You'll be working on strategically important AI and Digital projects that help improve and modernise our systems, processes, and services, helping our frontline social work teams and the teams that support them across the Department improve their productivity and efficiency. You will be responsible for managing project delivery from initiation through to completion, working closely with a range of internal stakeholders, ICT colleagues, external suppliers, and project boards.
The role is a full-time, permanent contract, working 37 hours per week, based at Halford House, Leicester, with hybrid working arrangements.
You'll work both from home and our city centre offices, with the flexibility to manage your work-life balance.
What you'll be doing
As Project Manager, you will lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of business and operational change projects to embed AI tools, automation and improve our Social Care and Education systems and processes. You will develop and maintain project plans and RAID logs, manage internal resources, and monitor supplier progress to ensure delivery within agreed time, cost, and quality tolerances.
You will chair meetings, report to governance boards, and manage risks and interdependencies across workstreams. These projects will vary in size and complexity, requiring you to balance attention to detail with strategic oversight.
Supported by the wider Social Care and Education Liquid Logic Development Team and working closely with Head of Business Intelligence Support, Senior Project Managers, Heads of Service, and stakeholders across the Council.
What you'll need
You will have a track record of successfully managing system or process improvement within a public sector or regulated environment.
With excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and maintain momentum across multiple workstreams.
A structured and organised approach to project management is essential, along with the ability to juggle priorities and respond to changing circumstances. You will be confident managing suppliers, chairing meetings, and producing clear documentation for governance boards and senior stakeholders.
Ideally, you will hold a project management qualification such as PRINCE2, APM or equivalent, and will be comfortable using collaboration and planning tools.
This is a unique opportunity to deliver meaningful change and help shape the future of Leicester City Council's Social Care and Education Department .
To find out more, please contact Andy Humpherson, Head of Business Intelligence Support, at Andy.Humpherson@leicester.gov.uk.
