Job Title: Project Manager - Learning & Business Operations, English

Salary range: Competitive (Spain) | £35,200 - £45,700 (UK)

Location: Cambridge, UK; Madrid, Spain - Hybrid (min. two days per week in the office)

Contract: Fixed-term (15 months), Full time

We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organisation and a proud part of the University of Cambridge.

The Production Management team within the English department of Cambridge University Press & Assessment are looking for an experienced and highly organised individual to take on the role of Project Manager who will oversee the production of global English learning publishing projects.

This role is responsible for the delivery of publishing products to markets and customers on time and budget, following sector strategies from English Board Approval through to project closure. Leads on the end-to-end work of the planning, production, and delivery stages of assigned projects and programmes. Is accountable for producing and executing project plans that deliver multi-component blended courses, ensuring key milestones and goals are met, budgets are adhered to and risks and issues are identified, mitigated and/or escalated as appropriate.

About the role

The right candidate will take on a varied role, leading on coordination and communication of all activities between departments within a matrix structure. We will be looking to you to plan, monitor and coordinate the delivery of publishing projects which typically include both print and digital products. As a central role within your project team, you will be expected to drive established processes, manage scope and change and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

On a day-to-day basis you will be focused on ensuring that delivery strategies are realised through management of schedules, budgets, risks and issues, and that technology dependencies are monitored and maintained. You will use data to advise production and editorial stakeholders on decision making, including conducting resource needs and reporting. Excellent communication and organisational skills are a key part of this role, you will take on tasks such as multi-team resource booking, organizing and running of project meetings and budget management.

About you

It's essential that you have previous relevant project management experience and ideally, a project or programme management qualification, e.g. MSP, Agile, PMQ, PRINCE2. You should have a demonstrable understanding of key project management principles including risk and change management. Experience of evaluating product build requirements is required as is the ability to create and manage budgets and schedules.

You will have experience managing multiple stakeholders and leading teams of both internal colleagues and external vendors through complex projects, often having to show initiative to implement solutions to issues that are raised.

Other skills and requirements:
  • Proficient at multitasking and prioritising
  • Spoken and written fluency in English
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator), Acrobat Pro.
  • Experience or background in English language teaching course delivery is desirable
  • Experience using MS Project, Power BI and SAP is desirable
