🚧 Assistant Project Manager - Road Maintenance (Client Side)

💼 Role Overview
We are looking for an Assistant Project Manager to join a major highways programme, supporting the delivery of road maintenance and improvement works along the A13. This is a client-side position, providing oversight and coordination of large-scale infrastructure projects delivered under the NEC3 contract framework.
The role requires someone with a strong background in major civil engineering projects, ideally with exposure to both design coordination and construction delivery, and the ability to work effectively with principal contractors and multidisciplinary teams.
🔑 Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Project Manager in the planning and delivery of road maintenance and upgrade schemes
  • Act as a client-side representative, ensuring contractors meet programme, quality, and safety requirements
  • Oversee compliance with NEC3 contractual obligations, including change management and reporting
  • Assist in reviewing and coordinating design packages, ensuring technical solutions are practical and cost-effective
  • Monitor site progress, identify risks, and contribute to mitigation strategies
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, reports, and stakeholder updates
  • Liaise with internal teams, external consultants, and contractors to ensure smooth project delivery
  • Contribute to health, safety, and environmental management across all works
  • Support budget tracking, forecasting, and value-for-money assessments
🎓 Experience & Skills Required
  • Proven experience in major infrastructure or highways projects
  • Strong knowledge of NEC3 contracts and client-side project delivery
  • Background in design coordination within civil engineering or highways
  • Experience working with principal contractors on large-scale projects
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong organisational ability with attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline (preferred)
💰 Salary / Day Rate

  • Contract role, outside IR35 potential
