We are currently seeking a Project Management Assistant join our GBR Design team.

About The Team
The establishment of Great British Railways is the biggest transformation of the rail industry in the last 25 years. The GBR Design Programme team is at the forefront of this transformation, driving the design of the operating model for Great British Railways which will create a simpler, more integrated system that delivers better outcomes for passengers, freight customers, taxpayers and the wider industry. Being part of this team is a unique opportunity to work across the rail sector at the forefront of a once-in-a-generation transformation of the railway.
About The Role
As a Project Management Assistant within the GBR Design Programme, you'll play a pivotal role within the team. You'll help keep the design team on track by coordinating activities, preparing high quality materials for key meetings and decision-making forums, supporting on reporting activities, and working with the Department for Transport and other industry partners to align requirements. You'll also contribute to stakeholder engagement, supporting effective communication and collaboration across the rail sector.
This is an exceptional opportunity to learn and develop core project and programme management skills while working alongside senior stakeholders across the sector. You'll be at the heart of the team shaping the future operating model for Great British Railways and driving change at a national scale.
Key Responsibilities
• Support the GBR Design Team in delivering programme milestones on time, within scope, and to a high standard.
• Prepare and coordinate high-quality materials for key decision-making forums.
• Collate, format and distribute data to support project requirements. Cascade to internal and external stakeholders where appropriate.
• Maintain accurate programme documentation, which are compliant with governance and reporting requirements.
• Work closely with the Department for Transport and other stakeholders to align on requirements and priorities.
• Assist with stakeholder engagement activities, helping to build strong relationships across the rail industry.
To be successful in this role, we would like you to have/to be:
• Relevant project experience, with a desire to develop a career in project management
• A motivated individual who actively seeks opportunities to contribute, learn, and progress, taking responsibility for monitoring tasks and driving their own development.
• Strong initiative, with the ability to proactively identify and progress tasks independently.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage your own workload under guidance.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and an eye for detail when preparing materials.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
• Ability to work with and build strong relationships with senior stakeholders.
It's not mandatory to have the below, but it would be desirable to have
• Membership (or working towards membership of) the Association for Project Management.
• Experience working in a change management project or programme.
Additional Details: This is a 24-month fixed term contract.
The role requires working in the office, based in London Waterloo station, for minimum of 3 days a week.
Salary range: £28,000 to £32,000 per annum (plus a location allowance of £3,270), depending on skills and experience.
