The Position

The Construction Project Manager will oversee the delivery of a strategically significant technical facility, managing the project from pre-construction through practical completion and the defects liability period. This role is suited to an individual who thrives in a high-performance, quality-driven environment and is experienced in coordinating multidisciplinary teams within technically complex projects.

Working closely with the Project Director, internal business partners, the Professional Team, and the Main Contractor, you will oversee daily project activities within a live operational environment. The position requires strong coordination across engineering, MEPH systems, building fabric, specialist equipment interfaces, commissioning activities, and operational readiness. You will ensure the project is delivered safely, efficiently, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage end-to-end project delivery, overseeing planning, execution, handover, and defects close-out.
  • Coordinate the Main Contractor's activities, including logistics, sequencing, access constraints, and progress tracking.
  • Maintain control of scope, specifications, design deliverables, and interface requirements.
  • Support governance activities including risk management, progress reporting, approvals, and change control.
  • Act as a key liaison between internal stakeholders, consultants, and the Main Contractor to ensure clear communication and alignment.
  • Review and monitor the construction programme, identify risks or delays, and support mitigation or recovery actions.
  • Prepare meeting agendas, documentation, minutes, and maintain action and decision logs.
  • Support design coordination workshops and ensure integration between contractor designs and client-direct works.
  • Promote a strong health & safety culture and ensure compliance with statutory, technical, environmental, and quality requirements.
  • Assist with commercial oversight including valuations, variations, procurement input, and cost control.
  • Support commissioning activities, operational readiness planning, structured handover, and defects management.

Requirements:
  • Demonstrated experience delivering construction projects from pre-construction through practical completion and defects close-out.
  • Strong capability to coordinate contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders within complex technical project environments.
  • Experience working in live operational environments and delivering high-quality technical or specialist facilities.
  • Solid understanding of construction sequencing, logistics, quality control, and statutory compliance processes.
  • Ability to manage projects involving complex MEPH systems and specialist equipment interfaces.
  • Strong organisational, communication, documentation, and meeting-leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in Asta Powerproject, PDF markup tools (Bluebeam or Adobe), and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Highly organised, proactive, and confident engaging with contractors and senior stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality, operational readiness, and structured delivery.
  • Clear communicator able to translate complexity into actionable steps.
  • Solutions-focused, adaptable, calm under pressure, and comfortable working at pace in a high-performance environment.
