CAN Engineering part of the RSK Group have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager (Geotechnical) to their team in Chesterfield, UK.
Being a supporting member of the Leadership Team for CAN (group of business units), reporting directly to the Contracts Director, specifically liaising with staff regarding all aspects of contract, commercial and project management in the delivery of projects.
In particular, by managing the contractual risks imposed by Clients on specialist construction projects. Also, the effective assessment of pre-qualification submissions and tenders for larger and higher risk projects, and in reviewing and agreeing the contractual terms agreed by CAN with their Clients.
You will also provide commercial guidance and support to the CAN senior leadership team.

CAN Engineering is a UK-based geotechnical engineering and access contractor. We undertake large-scale ground stabilisation and specialist access projects. Our geotechnical engineering division is involved with undertaking soil slope and rock face stabilisation work, installing rockfall protection measures, constructing retaining walls and providing sprayed concrete and structural reinforcement drilling and grouting. Our structures division offers structural repairs, construction support, inspection, testing and maintenance, blasting, painting, rigging and lifting at height. The multifaceted work is supported by rope access and confined space expertise, including bespoke access solutions.
CAN also has a large fleet of bespoke drilling and access equipment and facilities for design, manufacture, modification and repair. We provide solutions to complex jobs and overcome challenging access scenarios, thereby minimising public disruption. We hold the necessary health, safety, environmental and quality registrations. We are based in the UK (Chesterfield, Kent, Bristol, Glasgow) and the Republic of Ireland (Dublin).

Responsibilities:
- Plan and manage the implementation of contract works in a safe manner, in accordance with company-wide and project-specific health, safety and environmental documentation.
- Develop project plans, gain the necessary approvals and subsequently manager contracts in accordance with these plans, so providing safe and cost efficient services.
- Provide site managers with appropriate targets in terms of work outputs, deadline etc based on work programme.
- Actively monitor outputs achieved and provide timely feedback of information to Operations Manager.
- Proactively work to improve productivity without compromising safety or quality requirements.
- Ensure timely completion of all site tasks and documentation detailed in Project Briefing Checklist (or as otherwise requested).
- Assist in the development and implementation of ISO accreditations.
Person specification:
- Experience working in Geotechnical operations at site or Project Manager positions.
- Degree level education in engineering, geology or related fields.
