About Global Marine Group: Is a leading independent provider of subsea fibre optic connectivity solutions offering a broad range of services including consultancy, subsea cable engineering, installation and maintenance, covering the lifespan of a subsea fibre optic cable system which is delivered to customers worldwide.
Purpose: Working as part of a team of Project Managers within the Telecoms Business Unit you will support the delivery of Global Marine's maintenance and installation services.
Maintenance: This aspect of the role will require you to undertake the management of cable repairs, and other operations under GMSL's Maintenance contracts, within agreed commercial and operational KPIs. You will collate and keep up to date relevant contractual and system-specific information, as well as vessel utilisation and performance data for internal and external reporting. From time to time, as dictated by project and resource requirements you will also be expected to support the Maintenance Agreement Manager with other tasks required for the delivery of all Global Marine's deliverables under the Maintenance contracts.
Installation: This aspect of the role will involve supporting the Head of Project Delivery in the delivery of installation projects. You will operate within established project management procedures to ensure that contracted work is completed on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
The specific tasks may be related to management of sub-contractors, internal scopes and/or Customer management. You will be responsible for managing, controlling and monitoring specific scopes through project through initiation, planning, execution and close out stages. You will be instrumental in commercial and technical execution of the project.

Location: This role can be based in the Chelmsford office and follows a hybrid working arrangement of working 3 days in the office and 2 days working remotely each week. For the right candidate who is based further afield, we can offer flexibility through remote working arrangements, with agreed and regular visits for office attendance and site visits.

Key Deliverables:
- Develop and maintain strong, effective relationships with key customers to ensure high levels of satisfaction and continued business engagement.
- Manage repair operations within agreed Commercial and Operational KPI's.
- Deliver timely and accurate reporting on repair/project performance internally and externally utilising agreed reporting formats.
- Liaise with necessary Global Marine Group departments to ensure that adequate resources are provided for the envisaged repair scope of work.
- Point of contact for maintenance customers as applicable via the Duty Mobile Phone.
- Maintain a technical understanding of maintenance facilities, goods, and associated services and their operational and performance capabilities and criteria.
- Carry out detailed repair risk assessments, prepare risk response planning in liaison with other stakeholders.
- Proactively identify, communicate, and mitigate potential risks, cost overruns, and scheduling delays.
- Support the Maintenance Agreement Manager in management of the supporting administrative, billing, and housekeeping deliverables required under the Maintenance Agreement Contracts.
- As required, support depot activities such as cable spares discharge and testing along with the Depot Managers.
- Assist sales in providing innovative proposals for Outside Work opportunities and manage any contract deliverables arising from this.
- Responsible for the development and implementation of control and management in accordance with company policy, procedures, legislation, and accepted industry working practices.
- Responsibility for lessons learnt within project operations, and onward communication cross company, as well as developing other initiatives, to implement continuous improvement in quality of delivery and efficiency.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- A degree in Project Management, Engineering, Business or a related field that demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities or an in-depth knowledge of the marine engineering industry, encompassing telecoms, power, Oil and Gas or Offshore Renewables.
- Experience or familiarity with subsea cable maintenance or installation.
- Results-orientated individual with a desire to improve continuous performance.
- Proven experience working within a cross-functional environment.
- Experience combining project management, survey, and installation/maintenance operations.
- Good communication and presentation skills, including ability to communicate and negotiate with a wide range of people and organisations, and an awareness of, and sensitivity to, international cultural differences.
- Relevant degree or education consistent with a good analytical capability.
- Good computer/Microsoft Office skills, including working with technical and commercial spreadsheets.
- The ability to travel frequently, and at short notice.
Ideal:
- Familiarity with data management, and chart and data requirements in the submarine telecoms industry.
- Experience of contract management and sound knowledge of customer service.
- A willingness and thirst to drive through new ways of working.
- Be conversant with Microsoft Project.
