What you'll be doing:

You will be the:

  • Professional lead for procurement and contract management
  • Principal adviser on commercial and procurement matters to the council's Corporate Leadership Team and Members
  • Embedding commercial thinking and practice across all stages of the commissioning and procurement cycle
  • Leading a team of commercial professionals, providing support, challenge and professional insight that leads to a sustainable improvement in commercial outcomes, performance and contribution to MTFS targets
  • Ensuring that the council's ambition for its residents, businesses and communities is embedded and realised though effective procurement, contract and relationship management

You will manage a team of 10 staff and have responsibility for a budget of £675k. The team are working with services to ensure the council's third-party expenditure currently estimated at £240m is under compliant contracts which deliver value for money for Slough.

Annual increments, where applicable, are usually payable on 1st April each year, subject to six months service in the post, until the maximum spinal column point of the level has been reached. The payment of annual increments is not automatic and is subject to satisfactory performance as assessed by your director.
