City of York Council is looking for Project Managers to strengthen our Transport Projects team and help deliver improvements that make a real difference for our city.

Reporting to our Senior Project Manager / Programme Manager, you will be working within a growing City Development directorate, focussed on the provision and delivery of a high-quality, client responsive service.

The Transport Projects team covers a diverse portfolio including our active travel programme, the continued rollout of our electric vehicle charging infrastructure, expansion of our Park & Ride sites, complex road safety improvement projects, school streets and the councils largest major roads project York Outer Ring Road Dualling.

The role will involve end-to-end project management, working with our client team at the pre-feasibility stage, and leading the projects through detailed design, consultation, procurement and construction. Where works are externally tendered through consultancy and delivery frameworks the project manager will carry out all aspects of contract management with support from the Senior Project Manager / Programme Manager.

As an excellent and proactive communicator, you will have experience in working within the civil infrastructure sector preferably, but not essentially, Highways & Transport.

Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
