Job Title: Project Manager

Responsible To: Head of Nature Recovery - Northern Ireland

Location: Office-based in Derrygonnelly, Co. Fermanagh with hybrid working. Also occasional travel across Northern Ireland and cross-border.

Salary: Grade D, £34,000 - £37,000 per annum, depending on experience plus 8% pension contribution

Duration: Fixed term until 31st July 2029

Hours: 37 hours per week (1FTE)

Job Purpose

• To oversee the delivery of Butterfly Conservation's Limestone Grassland PEACEPLUS project, which forms part of PeacePlus Nature in Northern Ireland.

• Line management, support and full compliance of the project team, and reporting of Butterfly Conservation's PeacePlus Nature project.

• To lead on engaging and developing effective partnerships with key stakeholders and statutory agencies in identified priority landscapes forming part of 'PeacePlus Nature'.

• To engage with a broad range of stakeholders to provide management advice and develop pathways of access to the information they need to manage land sympathetically for priority habitats and species identified in the PeacePlus Nature project.

Main Responsibilities

• Project management of Butterfly Conservation's PeacePlus Nature project: taking ownership of project budget and procurement; overseeing project reporting and liaison with RSPB (Lead Partner) & funding bodies as needed; representing Butterfly Conservation on the 'Limestone Grassland Project Board' and other Steering Groups as required.

• Line management of the PeacePlus Nature project team (including a Limestone Grassland Landscape Officer and Engagement & Volunteering Officer) to successfully deliver all project outcomes, and support the team, including through the delivery of annual appraisals, quarterly reviews, and monthly 1:1's.

• Drive delivery of the PeacePlus Nature project through supporting and mentoring the project team, managing and developing effective partnerships with key stakeholders, and leading from the front in a professional manner.

• Work closely with the Head of Nature Recovery - Northern Ireland, to provide updates on project delivery and compliance with the PeacePlus Nature grant agreement.

• Through line management of the Limestone Grassland Landscape Officer, ensure all activities carried out on designated sites and priority habitat have secured relevant permissions from the statutory authorities and are monitored and reported on to completion.

• Promote best practice management advice for PeacePlus Nature priority species through collaboration with Butterfly Conservation's wider advisory services and overseeing the production of digital and printed assets, including advice notes and case studies.

• Working with the PeacePlus Nature project team, deliver workshops and presentations for partners, landowners, volunteers and community groups on Lepidoptera conservation and management advice, with a focus on the understanding of landscape-scale conservation.

• Disseminate the impact of Butterfly Conservation's work, including by giving presentations, giving media interviews, preparing reports, and posting on social media.

• Working with the PeacePlus Nature project team and other Butterfly Conservation staff, help build volunteer capacity in Northern Ireland to play a greater part in the conservation of priority species and support the legacy of the project.

• Support the delivery of Butterfly Conservation's Engagement & Volunteering strategic aims, to focus our work to connect people to nature and to reach people from a broader range of backgrounds.

General

• Working closely with the PeacePlus Nature project team and Butterfly Conservation staff, ensure effective health and safety procedures are in place for all participants, including Butterfly Conservation staff, the public, volunteers and project partners.

• Work closely with the Nature Recovery Team in Northern Ireland, including the Conservation Manager (Northern Ireland) and the Head of Nature Recovery Northern Ireland, to ensure effective delivery of nature recovery across the country and to ensure communication and collaboration across the Nature Recovery Directorate.

• Support the delivery, monitoring, and reporting of BC's strategic aims, relating to priority landscapes and species, and help meet BC's 'Nature Recovery Plan'.

• Promote BC's values (Excellence, Passionate, Inspiring, Collaborative) ensuring they are adopted in all aspects of the role.

• Undertake any other reasonable duties as required and commensurate with the grade of post.
