Hybrid working x3 days in London Farringdon Office

Senior Project Manager - Future ERP (Technology)

Location: Farringdon, London (Hybrid - minimum 3 days per week on-site)

Royal Mail is embarking on one of the most significant technology transformations in its history. Our Future ERP programme will modernise the organisation end-to-end, replacing fragmented legacy systems and enabling a fully integrated Customer-to-Cash (C2C) capability. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to shape how Royal Mail operates for decades to come.

We are now looking for an exceptional Senior Project Manager to lead complex, multi-workstream delivery within this flagship programme. If you thrive in high-impact environments, excel at bringing structure to complexity, and can inspire cross-functional teams to deliver meaningful change, we'd love to hear from you.
About the Role

As Senior Project Manager, you will take full ownership of delivering major ERP transformation projects-driving scope, schedule, budget, quality, and business value. You'll work across business, technology, data, and supplier teams to ensure Royal Mail's new SAP-enabled capabilities are delivered with precision, transparency, and strong governance.

This role is central to enabling attribute-based pricing, automated billing, accurate revenue capture, and improved customer experience across our Commercial domain.
What You'll Be Doing
Project Initiation & Mobilisation
  • Define and validate project scope, success criteria, and architectural boundaries for SAP/ERP initiatives.
  • Build strong relationships with business, technology, and supplier stakeholders.
  • Shape investment cases with accurate forecasting of resources, timelines, risks, and benefits.
  • Establish programme structures, governance forums, delivery models, and mobilisation plans.
Delivery Leadership
  • Lead cross-functional and SI delivery teams to achieve outcomes aligned to SAP best practice and target architecture.
  • Maintain a controlled delivery environment with baselined plans, RAID management, dependencies, and quality gates.
  • Act as the integrator across business, technical, data, and supplier streams.
  • Oversee budgets, forecasting, supplier performance, and support benefit tracking.
  • Ensure business readiness, change management, training, and cutover are embedded into delivery.
  • Uphold security, privacy, and corporate governance standards.
Transition & Closure
  • Manage smooth transition into BAU support teams with clear service readiness criteria.
  • Lead structured project closure, including lessons learned, financial closeout, and benefit realisation reviews.
Leadership
  • Build and coach high-performing teams, fostering accountability, psychological safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide line management for Project Managers and act as deputy to the Programme Manager when required.
  • Support recruitment and contribute to shaping the wider programme culture.
About You

You'll bring a blend of delivery excellence, leadership capability, and the resilience needed to drive transformation at scale.
Essential Experience & Skills
  • Experience delivering complex technology projects, ideally including ERP.
  • Proven ability to lead large, multi-year programmes (£10m-£50m+).
  • Strong matrix management skills, with experience leading teams of up to 50+ across business and supplier groups.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including engagement with senior executives.
  • High resilience, drive, and the ability to constructively resolve issues.
  • Strong stakeholder management and conflict resolution skills.
  • A collaborative, solution-focused mindset with a customer-centric approach.
  • Professional certifications such as APMP, PRINCE2, PRINCE2 Agile, or willingness to work towards them.
Personal Attributes
  • Inspirational leader with emotional intelligence and a growth mindset.
  • Pragmatic, commercially aware, and able to speak the language of business leaders.
  • Empathetic but firm-able to set clear expectations and hold teams accountable.
  • Motivator with a strong work ethic and adaptability in fast-moving environments.
