Are you a second or penultimate year undergraduate student at the University of Leeds looking to take a year-in-industry as part of your degree? Would you like to gain skills and experiences relevant for a career in the arts and cultural sector such as cultural production, project management, and partnerships development?

The Cultural Institute is dedicated to developing research collaborations with creative sector partners, fostering cultural engagement, and enhancing student learning and skills.

This is a developmental role to support a current student to develop skills, experiences and knowledge relevant for a career in the cultural sector or higher education. You will gain hands-on experience supporting research funding opportunities, creative collaborations, student opportunities, partnership facilitation, and co-delivery of cultural programming with arts professionals, staff and students at the University of Leeds. You will also have the chance to work with the on-campus venues and producers to support us in promoting an exciting and engaging public arts and culture programme.

Through your internship, you'll learn about the operation and impact of partnerships between universities and cultural organisations, as well as developing creative production, administration and project management skills.

As Cultural Institute Project Management Assistant, you will receive training, support and mentorship (within and beyond the university) to meet your specific development needs. You will also have the opportunity to develop wider experience of the cultural sector by undertaking a collaborative project with a Cultural Institute partner.

With an interest in pursuing a career in the cultural and creative industries or higher education, you will have excellent organisational and planning skills and the ability to complete tasks to agreed deadlines. You will also have strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team; with a positive and proactive approach to problem solving and making improvements. Strong IT skills and proficiency in the use of MS Office products (particularly Word and Excel) are essential.
