Nottinghamshire County Council is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of the £47 million A614 Highway Improvement Project, one of the Council's most significant infrastructure investments.

This high-profile role will provide client-side leadership across the full project lifecycle, ensuring the safe, compliant and successful delivery of the scheme in partnership with Via East Midlands, the appointed main contractor, under an NEC4 contract.

Key Responsibilities

As Project Manager, you will be responsible for:
  • Acting as the Council's client-side lead for the A614 Highway Improvement Project
  • Overseeing delivery of the scheme in line with agreed scope, programme, budget and quality standards
  • Managing the NEC4 contract, including change control, risk management, early warnings, compensation events and performance reporting
  • Ensuring full compliance with CDM Regulations, acting on behalf of the Client and providing assurance on health, safety and wellbeing throughout the project
  • Providing strong governance, reporting and assurance to senior stakeholders and elected members
  • Coordinating internal teams, consultants and external partners to ensure effective decision-making and issue resolution
  • Identifying, managing and mitigating project risks and dependencies
  • Supporting stakeholder engagement, communications and public accountability for this major transport investment

About You

You will be a confident and experienced project manager with a strong background in highway or major infrastructure delivery, ideally within a public sector or client-side environment.

You will bring:
  • Proven experience managing large-scale infrastructure or highways projects
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts, ideally NEC4
  • Demonstrable experience of client-side project management, including governance and assurance
  • A sound understanding of CDM Regulations and health & safety leadership responsibilities
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • The ability to operate effectively in a politically aware environment
  • Relevant professional qualifications (e.g. PRINCE2, APM, ICE, or equivalent) are desirable

Why Join Us?

This is a rare opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping Nottinghamshire's transport infrastructure, delivering long-term benefits for residents, businesses and road users.

You'll be trusted with real responsibility, supported by a collaborative organisation, and empowered to make a tangible difference through one of the Council's flagship capital programmes.
