Partly remoteJob Title - Global Mobility Manager
Responsible for: The Global Mobility Manager provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of all global mobility programs, policies, and processes supporting the company’s deployed project operations. This role ensures effective movement, compliance, and support of employees and contractors across domestic and international project sites.
The Global Mobility Manager is responsible for aligning mobility strategies with business objectives, ensuring compliance with immigration, tax, and labour laws, a optimising the employee experience for globally deployed personnel.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Remit & Responsibilities:
Strategic Mobility Leadership
• Develop and implement a Global Mobility Strategy aligned with organizational objectives and the unique requirements of deployed project operations.
• Partner with senior leadership, HR, Tendering and Operations to forecast global resource needs and support project mobilisation plans.
• Establish policies and frameworks governing international assignments, rotations, and localizations to ensure consistency and cost efficiency.
• Advise the operations department on compliance risks and best practice for managing global workforces.
• Drive process improvement and digitalization initiatives to streamline deployment and tracking.
2. Deployment & Assignment Management
• Oversee end-to-end mobility processes for assignments, short-term deployments, and rotational workforce programs.
• Manage global deployment logistics, including travel, visas, work permits, medical clearances, and compliance documentation.
• Ensure timely onboarding, mobilization, and demobilization of personnel for global projects.
• Coordinate closely with project managers and operations leaders to align workforce movement with project timelines and site readiness.
• Manage any international secondments/relocations from end to end. Compliance & Risk Management
• Ensure compliance with international tax, immigration, social security, and labour laws in all countries of operation.
• Develop and manage relationships with external advisors, EOR and resourcing specialists and government agencies.
• Monitor changes in global regulations affecting mobility, advising leadership on risk mitigation and policy adjustments.
• Oversee health, safety, and security compliance for deployed staff, including emergency evacuation and crisis management protocols.
4. Compensation, Benefits & Cost Control
• Partner with HR and Payroll to ensure competitive and compliant international assignment packages (including any allowances and benefits) and effective and compliant processing.
• Manage global mobility budgets, ensuring cost-effective delivery of relocation and assignment services.
• Evaluate the financial impact of mobility policies and recommend efficiencies or improvements.
5. Employee Support
• Oversee any pre-deployment training and onboarding requirements.
• Maintain effective communication channels for deployed employees to ensure ongoing support and engagement.
6. Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
• Lead and develop global mobility services across regions.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with HR, Operations, Finance, Tax, and Legal departments to ensure alignment on all mobility-related matters.
• Provide strategic reporting and analytics to executive leadership on workforce mobility trends, costs, and compliance risks.
Qualifications:
• Degree in Project Management, Human Resources Management, or International Management (Master’s preferred), or, qualified by experience.
REQUIREMENTS
Job Specific Education Required:
Essential (E):
• Proven experience managing complex international mobility programs across multiple regions.
• Strong knowledge of global tax, immigration, labour law, and assignment compliance frameworks.
• Experience working within engineering, construction, energy or project operations – oil & gas industry experience strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to manage vendors and third-party providers (e.g., emergency response, travel, and immigration services).
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Work Experience Required:
Essential (E):
• 10 years of experience in Global Mobility or International HR, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity supporting large-scale or project-based deployments.
