Application Deadline: 18 March 2026

Department: Service Delivery

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: Jersey, Channel Islands

Reporting To: Madison Myrfield

Description

We are looking for an expert AMI Project Manager to own the end-to-end delivery of the next-generation smart metering upgrade for Jersey Electricity: AMI 2.0.

In this high-impact role, you will be the utility-side owner of scope, schedule, governance, and deployment. This responsibility covers all phases: development, implementation, testing, pilot, and full rollout. You will coordinate cross-functional delivery across Metering, IT, Customer Care, Finance, Service Delivery, and external partners to ensure that our new AMI solution is implemented safely, compliantly, and efficiently.

You will play a central role in translating vendor design, testing, and deployment models into operationally ready processes for Jersey Electricity-ensuring visibility of ownership, robust governance, and effective risk management. The role will also involve leading changes arising from wider Smart Upgrade programme activities.

This is a multi-year, safety-critical, and highly visible project, offering an outstanding opportunity to build a major technology and operational transformation for the island's energy future.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Jersey Electricity's AMI 2.0 project delivery in line with the agreed implementation model, turning points, and acceptance criteria.
  • Work across internal teams and external suppliers to align design, system integrations, testing activities, and field deployment plans.
  • Own and run the master schedule, dependencies, and critical path across all delivery phases.
  • Identify risks early, coordinate mitigations, and ensure formal governance and modification oversight processes are rigorously followed.
  • Coordinate JE's involvement in FAT, SIT, UAT, and SAT, ensuring resource readiness, evidence review, and structured acceptance decisions.
  • Lead all aspects of installation logistics, installer capacity planning, sequencing, and site access readiness.
  • Act as the primary coordination point between JE teams and the AMI supplier, ensuring effective communication and clear paths for resolving customer concerns.
  • Ensure processes, documentation, and training are in place for a smooth transition into business-as-usual operations.
  • Embed safety and environmental considerations into all planning and delivery activities.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Essential Experience
  • Proven delivery of large, sophisticated infrastructure and systems projects.
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional teams in regulated or safety-critical environments.
  • Solid understanding of project governance, risk management, and change control.
  • Experienced in overseeing delivery from external suppliers under formal contracts.
  • Understanding of system integration projects involving databases and technical interfaces.

Desirable Experience
  • Background in utilities, energy, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Experience with large-scale technology deployments involving field teams.
  • Familiarity with structured testing frameworks and formal acceptance processes.

Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent experience in engineering, project management, or related field.
  • Professional project management qualifications (e.g., PRINCE2, MSP, PMP) are desirable.

Core Skills & Behaviours
  • Strong project governance and structured delivery skills.
  • Effective risk and dependency management.
  • Excellent communication, partner engagement, and vendor management.
  • Confident decision-making, even in ambiguous environments.
  • High operational and safety awareness.
  • Demonstrates reliability, teamwork, excellence, responsibility, customer focus, and open safety leadership.
