The role exists to develop, maintain and manage a portfolio of agreed projects within the Water Network, ensuring each one is delivered to the required time, cost and quality standards. It provides full end-to-end ownership of project delivery, from defining scope and planning activities through to monitoring progress, managing risks and dependencies, and ensuring robust governance is consistently applied.

The position plays a central part in coordinating operational, technical and stakeholder inputs, enabling effective decision-making and ensuring that project outputs are implemented safely, efficiently and in a way that supports long-term network performance and regulatory commitments.
  • To ensure projects are managed and delivered according to governance standards
  • To define, plan, direct and deliver the agreed projects to time, cost and quality objectives
  • To manage multiple projects within Water Network
  • To maintain and track the milestones and dependencies, to be proactive with communication to enable mitigation against the missing of key dates.
  • Establish overall Water Network project deliverables and critical success factors to provide a basis for effective planning and management of projects.
  • Apply recognised UU project planning techniques and methodologies to ensure consistency of approach across the business.
  • Monitor and review all Water Network projects, prioritise projects. Ensure Maximum efficiency and value for money.
  • Ownership of the project plan including managing change and risk to ensure the project delivers against the agreed success criteria.
  • Ownership of the project to ensure that the project delivers to LBE.
  • Prepares Business Cases and project progress reports for assignment leads
  • Adherence to quality management standards for project delivery.
  • Ensure readiness for implementation / handover to maximise business subsequent realisation of benefits and service stability.
  • To oversee and co-ordinate change and ensuring that the appropriate governance processes are followed.
  • Matrix management of multiple team members.
  • Prince 2 Certified or APM accredited or equivalent experience or a commitment to attain that level
  • A demonstrable successful track record in the delivery projects
  • Experience of Water Network
  • Attention to detail in the collation and analysis of information and the preparation of reports.
  • Must have a focus on quality
  • Proven planning skills and ability to use MS Project including Netbase, SAP, CRM, eRespond, OMS, GIS and OneMap
  • Good commercial management skills and experience, and a demonstrable track record of managing third party suppliers to time and budget and quality.
  • Seek out best practice and innovative ideas/approaches, both internally and externally, and manage their implementation within Water Network Business Area
  • Contribute expert advice, insights and suggestions to support other leaders to make informed decisions.
  • Maintain a productive dialogue with clients, understanding their requirements and responding to feedback appropriately to manage customer.
  • Strong communication skills both written and oral.
  • Effective stakeholder management skills demonstrated at a variety of levels.

Essential Qualifications
  • Prince 2 Certified or APM accredited or equivalent experience or a commitment to attain that level
