About the role

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Director of Procurement is the Head of Profession for procurement and supply chain activity across NHSGGC. You will provide strategic leadership for a service of approximately 163 staff, overseeing procurement, commercial services, purchasing systems, and stores and logistics across acute and community settings.

Key responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for all non-pharmacy procurement and supply chain activity

  • Lead complex, high-value commercial negotiations and strategic sourcing activity
  • Ensure compliance with the Procurement Reform (Scotland) Act and Public Contracts (Scotland) Regulations
  • Act as a trusted adviser to Executive Directors, clinicians and senior stakeholders on complex commercial and contractual matters
  • Lead, develop and inspire a large, multidisciplinary workforce, promoting professional standards and continuous improvement
  • Strengthen collaboration locally, regionally and nationally, including with National Services Scotland and other Health Boards
  • Drive digital innovation and effective use of procurement systems to improve efficiency, transparency and control
  • Represent NHSGGC at local, regional and national forums and partnerships

About you

You will be a dynamic, credible and influential senior leader with a strong track record of leading large-scale procurement and commercial services in complex organisations. You will bring:
  • Degree-level education and CIPS Professional Diploma with MCIPS status
  • Significant senior management experience in procurement, including leadership of large teams, budgets and complex spend portfolios
  • Strong commercial acumen, governance expertise and experience operating within regulated environments
  • Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills, with the confidence to operate at Board and national level
  • A values-driven leadership style with the ability to engage clinicians, executives, partners and suppliers
  • A clear commitment to ethical procurement, sustainability, workforce development and continuous improvement
