About the role

At Connect Plus Services, we manage and maintain the strategic infrastructure of the M25 Motorway, one of the busiest and most complex road networks in Europe. Working in partnership with National Highways and Connect Plus, our teams deliver vital inspection, maintenance and improvement works that keep the network safe and operational for millions of road users every day.

We are looking for a proactive and motivated Assistant Project Manager to join our Project Delivery team and support the delivery of a key portfolio of inspection works across the network.

As Assistant Project Manager, you will support the successful delivery of the inspections portfolio, working closely with Project Managers, inspectors, logistics teams and supply chain partners. The role focuses on the management and coordination of structural, linear, tunnel and safety inspections across the network, many of which are delivered through subcontractor-led attendance.

This role would particularly suit someone with experience in highways safety, drainage, inspection-based environments, or related operational functions such as plant and fleet, logistics or commercial teams. We are looking for someone who understands how operational programmes are delivered on the network and can help coordinate multiple teams to ensure works are carried out efficiently and safely.

You will play a key role in coordinating activities across multiple teams and functions, ensuring inspections are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with contractual requirements. This will involve working closely with the Logistics team, Senior Inspectors and supporting functions including Safety, Commercial, Design and Asset Management.

The role sits within a fast-paced operational environment where strong organisation, communication and collaboration are essential to ensure inspection activities are effectively planned and delivered. A key part of the role will involve supporting cost control across the portfolio, proactively managing budgets and identifying opportunities to drive efficiencies and deliver cost savings where possible.

What you'll be doing

You will support the development of strong working relationships with the inspection and logistics teams, along with key internal and external stakeholders, ensuring there is clear understanding of project objectives and delivery requirements. You will assist with monitoring performance, reporting progress and working with teams to resolve issues that may impact delivery.

You will support compliance with the DBFO contract by helping clarify roles and responsibilities within the team, maintaining project records and ensuring change management processes are followed where required.

Working closely with the Asset team, you will assist in planning and organising inspection activities to ensure works are appropriately resourced and delivered to agreed objectives and standards.

You will also support the development of cost profiles, budget tracking and resource planning, helping identify key risks and requirements associated with the inspection programme. A key element of the role will involve proactively monitoring project spend and identifying opportunities to reduce costs, improve efficiencies and support strong commercial performance across the portfolio.

Part of the role will involve identifying emerging risks, issues and dependencies related to inspections and escalating these where appropriate. Where necessary, you will help develop and implement solutions to mitigate these challenges.

You will contribute to maintaining high standards of health and safety performance across the portfolio by supporting clear expectations around safety management, programme delivery and cost control.

The role will also involve supporting the organisation's sustainability objectives, including activities linked to net zero targets and biodiversity net gain.

Working alongside the construction and supervisor teams, you will ensure site documentation such as permits, certificates and reporting are managed correctly and align with operational and project requirements.

Who we're looking for

We are looking for a motivated individual with a project or infrastructure background who is comfortable working across multiple projects and coordinating with a wide range of stakeholders.

Candidates with experience in highways safety, drainage, inspection programmes or related operational areas such as plant and fleet, logistics or commercial environments would be particularly well suited to the role.

You should have experience working within teams delivering projects concurrently and demonstrate strong collaboration skills when working with internal teams, contractors and external partners.

Strong communication and organisational skills are essential to help ensure project strategies, plans and solutions are clearly understood and effectively implemented.

You will ideally have experience managing or supporting project plans and stage plans, helping ensure activities are delivered in line with programme objectives.

We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate experience managing budgets or supporting commercial performance, with the ability to proactively identify opportunities to reduce costs, drive efficiencies and deliver value across programmes of work.

Candidates should demonstrate a commercially aware mindset, supporting strong project performance and contract delivery.

Personal attributes that will help you succeed in the role include proactive problem solving, resilience when managing competing priorities and the ability to build trusted relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
